I thought I'd start this thread as I have heard loads of people complaining about the various problems that they have been experiencing. I'm not 100% sure but the problems could be operating system related.

For me I am running XP (SP3)

My only errors have been.
1)1 off CTD caused by merging armies.
2)Save games disappearing after the last Hotfix.
3) A few other issues that are not game breaking.

What operating system are you running and what issues have you had. Lets see if we can't track the problem down. ~:)

Pevergreen - XP (sp 2 & 3) & Vista (SP1) - No crashes
Susanna - Windows 7 beta 64 -No Crashes

Windows 7 Beta, 64 Bit version :study:

So far no crashes at all.

Susanna/Calapine :pokemon:

Feanaro
03-26-2009, 20:52
XP SP3. No issues, other than some sound still not working and not being able to see my saved games in the save window. They show up fine in the loading window.

Terraforce
03-26-2009, 20:55
Vista 32 bit. No crashes at all.

Vista 32 bit.

CTD after the hotfix on turn 5 for any new campaign I start. But my 94 turn Ausrian campaign runs just fine....for now.
Occational STD when merging units.
Other minor issues.

Monsieur Alphonse

XP SP3

Two CTD's while trying to do exceptional things.

One CTD while trying to merge two fleets which were more then twenty army units transporting.
One CTD after loading a campaign, loading an other and trying to reload the original campaign.

No CTD's while playing and doing normal things.

I defragged my hard drives and cleaned my register before installing Steam and ETW.

TW games are notorious for having problems with registers that aren't in tip top condition.

Turbosatan

XP SP3, on a system that -- on paper -- shouldn't run it. But does.

One crash, pre-patch (which was my fault, I was messing about with another program & alt/tabbing) & one post-patch that I've not been able to repeat.

As this game has eaten vast chunks of my life over the last two weeks, I'd say that's not bad.

Vista 64 bit, no CTD's or other problems at all.

Vista home premium, 32 bit. Two CTD's, nothing at all problematic.

XP Pro SP3 Here. Since recent hotfix save games disappear. I have had some CTD. Usually happens after a Naval battle and when I go to click on the ship icon that adds the captured ship to my fleet thats when the CTD happens. If I auto the naval battle however it wont CTD. Odd how it only does it when I click on the capture ship icon. :dizzy2:

Vista 64 bit, no CTD's or other problems at all.

How did you prepare the system before installing the game? E.g. deleted Norton Symantic programme, and other programmes that supposedly conflict with Stream?

I am asking because I am planning to install 64-bit vista instead of 32-bit vista.

Dradem

vista 32 bit
only one crash but that was the CTD for a general that was still in the campagain afterduying bug.
for the rest no CTD's what so ever. :2thumbsup:

XP Pro x32 (SP3)

7 attempts at grand campaign, all ending in repeatable white screen CTDs (the 'Empire.exe has encountered a problem' kind, never had the insufficient video memory one). Trying an 8th time currently.

No sound problems with second most recent hotfix, so have decided not to install newest hotfix in case it nerfs something else.

Daevyll
03-27-2009, 13:23
Vista 64 ultimate with SP1

After last OS update only 1 crash in 2 weeks of playing 3-4 hours almost every evening.

Bornslippy
03-27-2009, 14:25
Vista 64Bit SP1
Many crashes, some of which are repeatable

Beskar

Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1 - End of turn CTD in a couple of saved games in the pre-patched ETW games, the ones since have had no problems.

Vista Premium SP1 64 bit--constant CTD's until graphic card driver roll back--now only two in about
70 turns--one upon exiting a land battle and one upon exiting a naval engagement. Only the naval CTD was repeatable, but auto resolving got around it.

I've also had two lock ups which were also during naval engagements--both while firing a broadsides.

Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit) SP 1.

Only one crash loading a save game - used the last autosave instead and was fine.

XP Home, SP 3: 1 CTD, I pressed the "End Battle" button after decimating Stockholms defenders. :(

I can now report a constant, repeatable CTD after winning naval battles. Auto calc is fine, but I have fought 6 battles today, and 4 CTD after I won. Strangely, after restarting and fighting the battle AGAIN, no crash happend the 2nd time around, or during other naval battles I fought after the restart. It seems to be only after a fresh start of the game, very odd.

This is with my Vista 64

I didn't even disable Norton during game installation and have had no problems.

Vista 32 bit.

The only crashes i've experienced thus far are the crashes that involve merging troops. Other than that the game runs great (knock on wood).
