Not to complain or anything, but does anyone else dislike the Taxation system? I hate the way you have to tax all your regions at the Same level. Unlike the old days, when each town, city, region could have its own Individual tax level....I mean how the hell am I meant to get one Country I want to Rebel, to do so? Withtout another five Rebelling with it. Preety crap.

EASY. Take out the garrison, destroy the happiness buildings and destroy the farms but keep the schools. That is the fastest way to a controlled rebellion.
Why do schools cause rebellion? It just seems kind of weird like.

They're universities, centers of every sort of radical ideas. They always have been.

Spreading free thought causes people to get funny ideas about governments. Also, it balances out technology gains a bit.

That is why classes in my universities are conducted under armed guard. I force them to only study things I want (like better guns) and if they try to research things like philosophy (except for division of labor) I shoot half the class, and make the other half eat the ones I shot. It works wonders.

Because a less educated society is an easily controlled society.
But yes, I would prefer a taxation model of the old TW games...
The advantage of this is its easer to set and probably a bit more realistic. Also to course a rebellion in your capital exempt the rest of the cites in that part of the world from tax then jack them up to get a revolution
The exempt from tax I do like.

Players could try what the government in Britain has done to its Universities over the last 30 years or so. Put in lots of accountants and managers to run them, take away power from the academics and force them to waste their time doing lots of meaningless tasks like Quality Assurance and Research Assessment Exercises.
Result: much less dissent and independence of thought. Much less thought of any kind mind you but there you go.
I miss the tax by region capabilites of M2TW, however I will admit it could become tedious in the later years.
However I spend far more time watching the AI march around uselessly between turns now.
Frankly, I like the current taxation system. It forces you make a broader and more forceful choice ("will I concentrate on making tax money but have the headache of unhappy citizens") while reducing management.
