no.light spear i believe is either a thrown spear or a hoplite spear. te phalangite spear is diferent, and thus should be left alone unless you notice a bug in-game.

That's not what he meant, really. It's an EDU thing.

All of the phalangites have light spear, so it's probably a typo. You can fix it if you want.

TW's PhalanxMod gives all phalangites spear, though.

Attack and defense penalties/bonuses. Also, it looks different in game (I think).

I don't bother with remembering the exact values though, they're mentioned a lot around here.
