View Full Version : Campaign won't start EB 1.2
Hi, I've just installed EB, and when I start the game, I try to iniciate a campaign, but after choosing my faction when I click the small arrow on the corner to start, the game simply freezes. It doesn't CTD, it just stops working like if it's loading except nothing happens, I left it like that for about two hours yesterday and it doesn't start the campaign. I can play custom battles at will, and they work perfectly.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? thanks in advance.
Edit: I've just tried to start the campaign again, it didn't start as expected but I know why now, the game stops due to a "protection error", does anyone know how to fix this?

No Idea so far, but if you could elaborate on this "protection error", maybe I could come up with something after a thorough web-search. Or somebody else, for that matter.
Is this an error in Windows? In EB? In RTW? In directX? How does it present it's self? a windows dialogue box that shows up in the background while EB is running? Or did you find it on some forum (in that case, do you have a link to the source)?
I can atm only wish you good luck and a spontaneous self-repair...
Run a validation and post the results here.

I have the exact same problem. The error shows on the windows Task Bar and in the Task Manager as just "Protection Error".
Others seem to have had success with this by turning off the movies (-nm) (-nm switch)? I tried doing that by just adding -nm or -nm switch or -nm "switch" at the end of the shortcut target in its properties window. no idea if i did it right but it didnt help, besides i want the movies, theyre awesome.
I did NOT install it in program files and I did run the validation thing, the regular one and the special one for Vista. But it wont work. heres what i get:
Startind Validation. This will take a while...
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
at europabarbarorum.ValidateInstall.validate<ValidateInstall.java:118
... 125

and it cant create the text file. of course i checked that i have the current and working Java.
any help will be greatly appreciated
thanks!

another update- im pretty certain the problem is i need to disable the movies due to my Nvidia card. supposedly theres a box somewhere i can check but i havent seen it. using the -nm just says "option nm requires a value" any help?

last update - i found it. as an FYI to anyone else with the problem the 'check box' can be found by running 'EB Configuration' in your main RTW/EB folder
