Right, the game has started! The Parliament has no set time that it has to be in session, but as it's the first one I'll make sure it's longer than normal.

Great post mini! I can already to see a nice plotline developing. :2thumbsup:

It's probably a good idea for us to agree on a set phrase or way of showing the actual words of petitions. Perhaps bolding the text we wish to taken as a petition? Or maybe a phrase such as, "I request".

I'll see if I can lure some LotR players here.

mini
04-01-2009, 12:17
Yeah, few more players would be nice :)

I'll edit my requests in bold.

As for plotlines, I seem to remember that Robert feels unappreciated by default in his traits, which is quite historical.
Besides, too many do-good'ers at the start is boring ;p

Ignoramus
04-01-2009, 12:22
Indeed, which is why I always liked playing England in MTW2. For the first 50 years you can really reenact history with real historical characters.

I'm also glad that you've taken Robert on this path, because the game would be terribly boring if everyone behaved and followed the king's every whim.

Do you know of anyone else who may be interested in joining? I'll send some PM's to various people.

I posted in BtSH about this.

Besides posting it in LOTR aswel, I can't do much as I don't have a 'social network' in the throne room.
Before I discovered this part of the forum, I hadn't logged in in almost 2 years..

hey all if join 2 questions:

will the mod you guys use overwrite my BC mod as i play the hot seat, and will overwrite my normal game as i am writing a Scottish AAR

mini
04-02-2009, 07:33
as far as I know, we aren't even using a mod :)

Just MTW patched to 1.3 :)

Ignoramus
04-02-2009, 07:55
Mini's right. Nothing except the original MTW2 with the 1.3 patch. It won't muck up any hotseat or game of yours.

Welcome to the game!

You might like to read the Magna Carta Rules Thread, and then pick a house to join.

The Current Houses:

Rufus:
Led by William Rufus(_Bean_)

Curthose:
Led by Robert Curthose(mini)

Beauclerc:
Led by Henry Beauclerc(Cultured Drizzt fan)

Alternatively, you could choose to wait until Cecil gets married, and then you could play her husband.

Cultured Drizzt fan: You can participate in the Parliament. All you have to do is put forward your petitions as an unnamed baron.

navarro951
04-02-2009, 08:40
okay id appreciate a PM when the husband is available.

Ignoramus
04-02-2009, 10:29
You can participate now while you wait, as a nameless baron. It's still very fun.

Ignoramus
04-02-2009, 11:28
I tried to roleplay Henry's interruption as best I could. I think it added something. But it's probably good if Drizzt roleplays a baron for the 6 turns or so until Henry comes of age.

Also, I'll explain how the financial system works.

mini
04-02-2009, 11:49
Is it 6 turns?

Ok, I found it silly to have him nameless when we know he's going to play henry anyway. Which is why I twisted it like that. My apologies :p

Cultured Drizzt fan
04-02-2009, 20:05
Meh I am roleplaying him kind of childish anyways.

Cultured Drizzt fan
04-03-2009, 20:30
so we gonna start this up?

Ignoramus
04-04-2009, 05:44
Yes, I'll start the game on Monday, as I have to reinstall MTW2 again, as I mucked up the vanilla files. And I won't have time to do it until Monday.

Such is the price we PBEMers must pay. :laugh4:

mini
04-06-2009, 07:35
Let the games begin.

Ignoramus
04-06-2009, 08:24
Don't worry, I'm just reinstalling MTW2, and will then immediately post the save. I'll also take screenshots for the library.

Thanks very much for your patience.

mini
04-06-2009, 14:31
UL that we don't have much volunteers, this could be fun :)

Ignoramus
04-06-2009, 14:44
Yes, the save is frozen until the poll is over. Sorry about that.

Ignoramus
04-07-2009, 09:40
Financial System.

Each baron, count, duke, or prince is able to spend the net income from their settlements on buildings, recruiting units, and hiring mercenaries. The net income is the income they receive minus the upkeep of any units, fleets, or agents under their control.

Ignoramus
04-08-2009, 10:40
Ok, the save is open!!!!!

Here is the current armies:

Rufus:
224 Spear Militia
180 Peasant Archers

Cost: 450 florins per turn

Robert:
112 Peasants
336 Spear Militia
90 Peasant Archers

1 cog(in port at Caen)

Cost: 715 florins per turn

Ignoramus
04-08-2009, 10:40
The initial Treasury is divided up as follows:

William the Conqueror: 6000
Rufus: 2000
Robert: 2000

mini
04-08-2009, 10:48
I am destorying that Cog in caen to reduce upkeep.
If you have acces to the game right now, could you do it? I'm at work :)

I'm not paying for ships to secure the channel if you guys are going to concentrate on scotland! I need all the money I can get for troops ;)

Ignoramus
04-08-2009, 10:52
Are you able to access the save game after work? It's just that it will make things much clearer on who did what during the turn.

I'll hopefully get a spreadsheet thing up like V&V to show the money situation of everyone.

mini
04-08-2009, 10:54
I am :) will be in about 5-6 hrs from now

mini
04-08-2009, 12:46
And thus are the fundations for civil war built... :laugh4:

i'll carve my ownkingdom in northern france, yarrrr!!!

Hopefully it won't come to that :p

Cultured Drizzt fan
04-08-2009, 19:55
darn it! hurry up and get to the part where Henry comes in! am I allowed to write stories of Henry even as a kid?

and do you know when the pope usualy calls the first crusade?

/Bean\
04-08-2009, 20:34
About 15-20 turns off the top of my head, maybe longer. It's always quite early.

Of course you can write stories as Henry. I would see that as extrememly important in order to build up his character.

Cultured Drizzt fan
04-08-2009, 20:37
ohh ok, I Have a vision of Henry as very religious so If he has an army when the pope call a crusade then he is going.

and I would very much enjoy writitng about henrys childish antics!!!

/Bean\
04-08-2009, 21:26
He'd be like, 16, 17 odd? He couldnt lead the exbidition, surely.

Cultured Drizzt fan
04-08-2009, 21:36
doesnt henry come of age around turn 8 or so, that means that around turn 20 he would be 22-24

/Bean\
04-08-2009, 22:06
Suppose it would be up to ze King

mini
04-08-2009, 22:09
K igno: haven't had the chance to log into the save game

can someone disband that cog for me in Caen? much obliged

/Bean\
04-08-2009, 22:41
He's burning the boats behind him, my lord! He's cutting off communication and contact with the King! Burn the Heretic! :smash:

Ignoramus
04-10-2009, 03:05
Can Rufus and Robert make their moves soon? I'm willing to do them if people send me an detailed report of what they want done. It's just that if I end the turn now, then only William the Conqueror will have moved, and it will give him an unfair advantage. And seeing the King is already so powerful, I want the nobles to be able to secure themselves rather well.

/Bean\
04-10-2009, 07:04
I need to start today actually :sweatdrop:.

Ok, gimme some time.

mini
04-10-2009, 08:10
Damnit I forgot! And i'm driving straight to my GF after work damn...
I want to raise a spearman unit in Caen, and better barracks to be build.

Ignoramus
04-13-2009, 10:11
Ok, so I'll do those moves for you, mini.

Beanerz: I'm assuming Rufus wants to attack York?

/Bean\
04-13-2009, 10:14
Personally or expanionistically?

Ignoramus
04-13-2009, 10:19
Personally. It's just if he did, then you could take the save now and go and assault it.

/Bean\
04-13-2009, 10:22
Technically I am on a break, so I could. But I'd prefer for you to continue our conversation in the Parliament thread first

Ignoramus
04-13-2009, 12:42
Ok, will do!

mini
04-14-2009, 09:10
Gah! CONSPIRACY!!!

N1 Bean :D i'm loving it.
Though I'll act on it by directing my char to a conflict with his father/brother, i'll not react on it IC.

Seeing as my character is in Normandy while you two are talking about this, I can't act as if Robert 'knows' about it.
But he has felt it coming since childhood :)

Ignoramus
04-14-2009, 09:14
I only hope we can get a few more people to join. The more the merrier!

mini
04-14-2009, 09:18
Seems to be a lull in the throne room in general.
The only PBM that's really as active as a PBM should be, is the new macedon one.

And that's purely thanks to all the macedon fanboys on the EB subforum.

/Bean\
04-14-2009, 15:18
I know, I can't believe how many people Maion got so quickly. Makedonia is probably the second best faction to do a PBM though...

And I'm not conspiring against you, I'm giving the king options and then supporting the ones he chooses.

mini
04-14-2009, 15:44
it just looks like that :D

/Bean\
04-14-2009, 15:45
No, your just paranoid :clown:

Ignoramus
04-15-2009, 06:59
Don't worry, the King never thought Rufus was conspiring against him.

mini
04-15-2009, 09:32
No, but Robert will feel like the kign and rufus are conspiring against him! :D

Ignoramus
04-15-2009, 11:52
Ok, we'll have to get moving with this, or we'll discourage new players.

Mini: Do you want Robert to move anywhere? As Normandy is still Crown land, Robert is currently not generating any income. So do you want him to move to Rheims, as you seemed to indicate in the Parliament.

Beanerz: Currently you have 2,000 florins in your personal treasury. So you can construct buildings in Nottingham and recruit units or mercenaries as long as you don't exceed that amount. Remember that from your existing money and your taxes from Nottingham you will have to pay the upkeep of all your troops at the start of the next turn.

mini
04-15-2009, 12:44
i'll take the save game now.

made my moves.

Ignoramus
04-15-2009, 13:45
Robert can't actually authorise the building of the barrack in Caen, seeing as he doesn't own it. However, the king was probably going to do it anyway, so it doesn't matter. But remember in the future that you can only build and recruit from provinces you own.

It does mean that you haven't spent any of Robert's money on the building.

mini
04-15-2009, 14:06
Ah I see, until Roberst officially made duke of normandy, he cant?

Sorry bout that then :)

Ignoramus
04-15-2009, 14:18
Ah I see, until Roberst officially made duke of normandy, he cant?

Sorry bout that then :)

That's right. Don't worry about it. I probably hadn't made it clear in the rules. If anything seems to contradict itself, please mention it.

Ignoramus
04-17-2009, 12:39
Just a reminder that at the start, all agents are under the King's control.
