I bought the boxed edition of E:TW, but it is at my grandmas house. i installed it and loved it on her computer. i cannot bring the box here, i odnt want to arouse suspicion. so i am downloading it from steam (luckily it was uploaded to my account i had to create when installing). however, its been nearly 3 hours and it is still at only 12 percent. is there a way to make it faster? i cant wait to play it on this computer, its waaaay better performance-wise. but it'll take like a whole another day just to install it.
so again my questino is, how can i get it to install/download faster?
The thing that struck me with your post, is saying your grandmother has a better computer than you.
You could try changing your region and/or download server. I'm at work and don't know the exact options, but I know it's possible and might get you a much faster download.

No, he installed in from the disk at his grandmother's, and is downloading it from his home.
Frankly, you'll just have to wait a day. 15 Gb is a helluva lot, and unless you're willing to upgrade your internet to a super-connection, you'll just have to wait.

Right, he is downloading from his house. Through steam. So if he goes into steam and changes his specified region, then he will be potentially be hitting against a less loaded server, and possibly get a higher download speed. I've done this in Steam before. Sometimes I get higher download speeds from overseas servers than Valve's servers in California.
Am I missing something?

no...i said mine is better....but mine is also a vista so i have to have 2gb of RAM now. i only have 4gb left. im gonna have to sacrifice any new computer games until i can get a job and upgrade myself....

Technically, that makes no sense. When you say you only have 4gb left, it sounds like you're making the all-too-common mistake of conflating RAM and Hard Drive.

i figured that i was wrong with that. yah, i have 4gb of RAM and lots of memory.
either way, my computer is better yet it will not be installed until tomorrow. :(
Lol. Download a 15 GB Game faster... and a Grandparent with a better PC... xD

No, you have 4gb of memory and lots of hard drive space. Memory is associated with RAM. RAM = Random Access Memory.

ive already checked. i have 4gb ram. dont go super technical. i know what they are i dont call them by correct names. but i can tell what they are :P
Hah, I misread, but wow, my face was surprised when I thought your grandmothers was better as it is usually the otherway round. Nothing bad implied towards you.
You never know, his grandma could be some uber1337 with a core i7, 8gigs, quad 4850s, and a raid 5 array of velociraptors. She could be the one that owns you in multiplayer. Everytime.

lol. actually i dont play multiplayer in TW, i never had a real incentive. plus i couldnt find out how up until now :P steam is ironically probably going to get me into multiplayer
@dogfish: where in wilmington do you live? i live lika an hour away in jacksonville.
Masonboro area, off Masonboro Sound Road to be specific.
I pass through Jville pretty often when I'm up that way to visit my brother, he lives in Newport. I like all the cool military stuff around lejune, and all the strip clubs.

Oh, the joy of being a teenager... Having 4 strip-clubs across the street and having to go to the synagogue every Sunday....
And that Steam issue tops everything. That's tough, m8. :2thumbsup:

yeah. ive been downloading this thing since 8:30 this morning. it is now 3:30. guess what percent i'm at?
37. 37 percent. after 5 hours. at this rate it will probably be done somewhere around 11:00-12:00 tonight. that means either i'll have to stay up until then, or leave my computer on the entire.
though the benefit of steam is that i will probably now start doing multiplayer. ive never done multiplayer in TW before so ill see how it goes.

Dude, steam doesn't make it go slower. How long do you expect it will take to download FIFTEEN GIGABYTES? Just be patient, and do something else. It took me 2 whole days to download ETW, and quite a few other people, and you're the only one complaining about it taking to long.
At least you can download it. From what you have posted, you can't use the boxed version at your home. Now you can download it.
