One of my Client Rulers has proven himself quite a competent general by massacring loads of Carthaginians and has been granted a Triumph after a couple of heroic Victories.
How can this be? The Romans definately did not grant client rulers triumphs (I guess the script does not distinguish between the sort of general).
How on earth can I make him an actual FM? I would like to breed on his positive traits.
Edited to add; Perhaps it is possible in EBII to actually chose to adopt such a character?
it is possible to adopt if you character achieves man of the hour by winning a very difficult battle but i have never achieved this in eb

I think I have, once, but this guy has won two or three heroic against 2-3 x numerically superior foes...
yes, i also have won many victories that looked impossible but haven't had a man of the hour(only in vanilla). maybe you could move_character a bunch of enemies right next to him and fight them all at once?
*EDIT*
this is just speculation but perhaps if the game thinks you have enough fm's already it wont let you have a man of the hour

Put a ton of your DUL family members on a leaky Oneraira fleet and send them to meet some pirates. Doing that a few times will allow you to adopt new ones via Man of the Hour.

The client rulers are able to get traits associated with your faction, solely because any general on your faction is hardcoded to do that. The team probably wasn't able to change that, since it is completely ahistorical. Similarily, you can have client rulers (For the Romani) from.... Gaul, that are "gens Aurelia" or some absurdity like that. Its just vanilla coding. You can't change it.

The most recent version of EB 1.2 should prevent this from occuring.

So does that mean if I download EB 1.2, my Client Rulers will no longer be able to get it? Are the two anti-traits now?

Are the two anti-traits now?No, that would only prevent characters from being both a Triumphator and Client ruler at the same time. That constraint is obviously not strong enough.
