Has anyone discovered how to designate a different region as the national capital, as in earlier :TW games? Or, has this disappeared along with unhappiness due to distance from it?

The only way I have seen it done is to loose the first one and then another is chosen for you…I think, though I have only seen it with the AI and have not lost one my self.

That's how it seems to work. I've lost my capitol once, it went from PA to VA automatically. Wish I could of had a choice in the matter.

Once you conquer back your old capital, it will automatically be made your faction's capital city. Remember, this capital-switching doesn't apply across theatres. If you're capital's in Europe, then it will always be in Europe until you're wiped out.

i have a question:

if you start in 3 theatres (like the UP does) and you lose europe, can you continue on living since you have 2 other starting theatres?

No. If you lose all regions in your home theater, you're toast. Same goes for the AI nations. If you kill GB, France, Portugal, Spain or UP, their colonial territories will rebel. Mexico, USA and Quebec will rise as independent nations (from among the starting provinces). Some other nations will appear as well, for e.g. Afghanistan if Persia is destroyed in Europe (Persia and Azerbaijan).

Yea, my 100th post in this forum! :birthday2:

what i meant was since they are all sort of "home theatres" for UP, since it starts out in all of them.

Nope. Europe is the home theater for almost all playable factions, except for the Marathas in the grand campaign and the USA in the RTI campaign.

Wherever your capital is at the start, really.
