I have just had the Austrians claim the throne while playing as France, if Austria have a claim to my throne that must mean I have a claim to there’s when the king of Austria dies will I be able to claim his.
I have been playing for a while and not noticed an option.

I take the view that I have a claim to every throne. It's called "I can kick your ass anywhere, anytime. You may be small and plucky, but before you bring up Thermopylae, remember that the Persian's didn't have cannons."
Of course, the AI doesn't see it that way, so I end up leveling their country anyway. But I don't mind. It's more fun that way.

If you dont roleplay, this game sucks.

I'm not allowed to roleplay as an egotist with dreams of world domination?
I thought that was the point :questiong:
That is funny, the same thing happened to me today. Louis XIV died and Austria declared war on me with her allies. And as usual, Austria never sent any ghost of a troop towards me, instead leaving the Dutch and the British to attack me.
Smart guys.
I do wish we had the possibility to start a succession war instead of only suffering them.

Its a little more serious if you're playing as Prussia and Sweden does it and you're already in a three front war.

That you are :inquisitive: But its hard to seperate an "egotist with dreams of world domination" from the so regular and boring "In games, I always conquer and destroy everything and everyone and dont care even the slightest how or why I do it"-people.

If I was powergaming, I wouldn't level every capital city I took, now would I? :P
It would be really nice to be able to see family trees and just how the royal families are linked, at least that way you would be able to anticipate when nations are going to declare war on you.

I agree, had to go back to EB until the patches start coming online to fix the gameplay issues.

I had one of these wars once, made no sense to me though. I was playing at the 13 Colonies (not US) and my faction leader died, on the next turn Prussia declared war. If the AI could launch naval invasions I would of been worried, but since they can't....I launched my own invasion. :laugh4:

The AI does. It would be cool if the player was able to get an option to do this if the enemy king died and get the opponent's territory if they manage to conquer the enemy capitol.

As Prussia, when my initial monarch died the UP "disputed the succession" and lasted 3 more turns. Seems to be a way of having more AI declare war on you for seemingly random reasons. How the hell do you figure out if your ruler is related to anyone else?

No way, unfortunately. Maybe that will be added in a patch/expansion/mod. Supposedly the interface is partially built.

2 stacks of my offensive army were stationed nearby in preparation for invading France, so the silly UP didn't last long. I can't understand how a republic could dispute the succession anyway, unless it is the President who is related?
Well well, we have a discerning reader here! :book: Scary, I'm not alone any more.

Exactly. It's mind bogglingly dumb. It's like the Iroquois being an Autocratic Monarchy, just a poor oversight by CA.

I've only read the first book though. I need to read more. :book:

You mean, like M2:TW has? Yes, that would have been a nice feature to retain. :wall:

The Royal Family Mod unlocked the family tree button. It still needs improvement, though, but still good. You can see who the contendors for the throne are.

I'd just like to know what makes the Swedish think they have a claim to the 13 colonies..........
The AI does do some seriously stupid things.........

The Swedes actually did have a colony early in colonialism, but it was swallowed up (Methinks) by the British. I believe it was somewhere near Jamestown.
According to Wikipedia...
New Sweden (Nya Sverige in Swedish and Uusi-Ruotsi in Finnish) was a small Swedish settlement along the Delaware River on the Mid-Atlantic coast of North America from 1638 to 1655. It was centered at Fort Christina, now in Wilmington, Delaware, and included parts of the present-day American states of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Along with Swedes and Finns, a number of the settlers were Dutch. Some Germans also came to the colony as soldiers in the Swedish army.

Fair enough.
But the thirteen colonies aren't even a monarchy.....
.....How can you have a war of succession over a governorship?
Leif Eriksson in Vinland, man :laugh4:That was in New Foundland, not the area of the 13 colonies. Also, he was originally Norwegian. Then, the Swedish may think they have a claim on Norway. It's one of their victory regions after all.
