Your Top 3 Fav Instruments (to listen to)
My top 3:
Conga drum
Clarinet
Guitar
So, I guess it's the woods for me, whether beaten, blown through, or strummed/picked into.
Wood = Good. :)

I lol'd
The Human voice
Steel Guitar
Fiddle
Slide guitar
Slide bass
Upright bass
One of my favorite obscure bands was composed of a slide bass, saxophone and a drummer with a simple trap set. Weird orchestration, but they rocked out with it. Example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M34iZH4-qkI).

Bagpipes
Guitar
Saxophone
A free sample of truly God-like playing of slide guitar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V65fRKYJ90E). Music starts at 1:21.

Those fellas have a new fan, Lemur. Maybe my emphasis on wood was misplaced: it's really percussion that moves me - assuming Bass is a percussive.
Funny, I never figured you for a 'slider' fan. E-A-B blues/rock I estimated as your taste. My bad, brother. And props.
The Human voice
Steel Guitar
Fiddle
Mind you, I know fiddle-players personally... they're a little out there, having to tune opposite of guitars. :) Nevertheless, I admit to enjoying a rousing jig. And the power of 20 of them in a symphony.
Bagpipes
Guitar
Saxophone
Now that's interesting. Kind of a fan of 'the drone', then?

1. Keyboards, Especially a mellotron and a hammond organ. It's amazing the amount of emotional depth that a good keyboardist can add to a band.
2. A good, varied bassist, actually a good rhythm section in general makes a band a lot more fun to listen to.
3. Slow, emotional guitar solos, such as the one on Time, by Pink Floyd.

Oh, I'm definitely a drums'n'bass fan at heart, with a special soft sport for slide. One of my all-time favorite hard-thumpin' songs (http://video.aol.com/video-detail/soul-coughing-super-bon-bon/1444526888).

piano, taiko drum and cello in the top three
human voice and guitar coming close second.

The cello, without doubt.
The Irish harp moves me too and there is little to compare to a full blooded cathedral organ. I also adore the harpsichord, but that makes four.
Saxophone oh so first. I'll just list female voices as an instrument, why not. Piano.

Trumpet (Nothing like a trumpet-driven ska/punk song to fire you up or a downbeat ballad with a trumpet solo)
Any kind of percussion, particularly taiko (Rythm is how life cycle goes around)
Violin (Closest to the frequency of human voice, can trigger any emotions within)

1. Violin
2. Trumpet
3. Piano.
I prefer a "softer" style of music, generally, as opposed to a "harder" style. I generally prefer a trumpet on mellower notes, though a livelier tune can be nice as well.

Anything with great songwriting, rhythm, harmony, vocals, and melody.
Percussion (drum & bass)
Vocals
Horns, Strings, Keyboard, Piano etc. (except I don't like Harmonica and Blues guitar).
As an example, one of my contemporary favorites: Esperanza Spalding (performing "Overjoyed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lNE7jWA5AE)" by Stevie Wonder). I knew she's really special ever since I've heard (her old band) Noise For Pretend's rendition of Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet".
Only 3? That's not fair! I'll do it the other way around 3 instruments I dont like...
1. Saxophone (in general, there are exceptions of course as always).
2. Crappy synthesizer sounds (think '80's and your'e dead on target).
3. Accordion (in general, there are exceptions of course as always)
4. Bonus treat: Crappy drum-machines.... (There are good ones as well, you know).
Done... So what's next?!?
- Cheers

French Horn
Cello
Picking a third is tough. Drums and synthesizer are probably the top picks for the last position, but many other instruments can fill that spot if played the right way.
hurdy-gurdy
HeHe, I thought that was just something the Swedish chef says :clown:

I take it you don't listen to Jethro Tull.
Guitar, electric or otherwise.
Bassoon. (My sister played professionally. Loved to listen to her practice.)
Violin.

Violin, in the hands of none other than the great Grapelli.
Piano, with the late Oscar Peterson.
Difficult to pick the last one, I'm torn between trumpet (Chet Baker), Saxophone (Stan Getz or Charlie Parker), and guitar (Django, who else?)
If I had the powers of Frankenstein for just one night, I'd resurect them all, fly with them down to the South of France (Cannes, probably), find a venue right on the sea, pick up some toothsome fillies, and enjoy my own private heaven.

Django, who else?
Hendrix? Duane Allman? Son House? Robert Johnson? Elmore James? Stevie Ray Vagaun?
