HOW CAN I CHANGE THE NAMES OF FAMILY MEMBERS ?

A2. Characters born during the game, no. Only those of starting characters.

Anywho, I don't think you can change family names in-game, you may be able to do this in the data files though. I really have no idea how you can change names if you can even, and may I ask why? Are you trying to make an AAR to fit your personal taste?

do you mean how do you change names say like a roman general?
as in from a triumphus.

ex.) you have a marcus orestes scipio or something of the sort.
and he kills macedonians like a mad man and is named marcus macedonicus?

Yeah, you can change 'em in-game. Just play around with the names files. However, changing a Julius to a Scipio will affect all Julius's, living and dead.

The only way to actually edit a single character is through the use of a hex editor.

Not worth your trouble mate. Those titles weren't names anyway, so you can just roleplay he was given the title.

To change names like that of the Roman triumphs, you need to write new traits. Writing traits is not easy if you've never done it before and adding new traits is not save-game compatible.
