Title says it all really...landed at Rhodes port, and was attacked there

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=83&stc=1&d=1239625794

Never seen The Harbor and Colossus up close before..I could actually set up with my backs touching the harbor walls, (if I so wanted, took the hill instead;))..beautiful graphics for the Port though...

Anyone else got any?

I had a battle at alexandreia once, with a fleet of ships nearby, beautiful scenery with the lighthouse and ships off behind it in the distance, i didn't take any screenies though which is a shame.

And i have had some spectacular battles on mountains in Aitolia.

If you are attacked while seiging one of the cities in egypt (Diospolis Megale i think) you get to fight around the pyramids of Giza, and they're not in the distance either they take up most of the battle map!

There are also spots in Anatolia where if you fight you can see Temple of Artemis, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus and the Colossos of Rhodes all at once, can't remember if this happens in EB but it definatley did in vanilla.

I've also had battles in Rhodes and next to Pyramids. It's very refreshing to fight on such battlefields. I've also had a spectacular battlefield at the crossing of the Alps. It was actually looking like a crossing with mountain tops in the distant. Loved that battle.

Some battlefields can be pretty frightening. I once defended almost on top of the last volcano in Nabataia just before the border to Ma'in. Pretty impressive range you get for your archers there, though the "spaghettification" makes you feel a bit sick...

I fought twice or thrice at the Pyramids, and once at the Mausoleion. Only saw the Pharos once when defending Alexandreia.

Nice screenies guys, keep em coming

In my Rhodes screenshot, the colors look really dull compared to the real in game shot...I just pasted into Paint, then saved as Jpg, and tips for better results?

Irfanview.

Irfanview.
Meh, I like GIMP much better. It has more features and just more people working on it in general. Easier to use too. IMHO.

fsscreen to take the screenies, it doesn't have aa problems like some programs, just open it and press print screen as often as you like, it will save them all, up to 1000, in the same folder that the fsscreen program is in. And then any free editor to edit or convert to jpg, there's Irfanview like Centurio said, picasa is another good one.

Thanks for the advice guys....actually there is a problem with the .tga files. The printscreen buffer more accurately saves the background. In the .tga screenshot (which i can view directly in Photoshop..doh forgot I had photoshop never use it)..The mountains have gone ?! (even though the overall quality is crisper)...see comparison below:-

Original from Printscreen buffer

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=84&stc=1&d=1239672914

Tga file converted (its not the conversion either, no mountains in original)

Gimp is great to edit pictures, but just to resize them and convert into jpg, I prefer Irfanview just because it's much much quicker.

Hi has anyone else tried altering the 'grass distance' in the preferences.txt ? I got fed up of the grass popping up at close range so I went in and set it to 350 (metres?), looks quite nice really..

Great! I was getting annoyed by the thing that grass goes on and just ends... Have you noticed any drop in framerate?

Ardri

I'll be sure to make the adjustment to the grass tonight, having grass into the distance will make battles much more scenic. I didn't know this was an option and it has always bugged me, Thank you Pobs!

Hi SH,

at 275m I didnt notice any difference on my system, at 375 I think there is a slight framerate hit, but not really a problem.... I think you will need to just try it on your own system and see how it feels..

anyway some screenies from a recent battle at kophen, those mountains in the back ground provide some nice scenery
(before I changed the grass btw)

Anyone know what that range is called? I was thinking that it was the Himalayas but they're east more aren't they?

Geography was never my strong point, but isn't that the Pamir mountains?

Karakoram(sp?) if I remember correctly. Used to be good at geography, but now my knowledge isn't that sharp as it was before.

My google searches on Karakoram mountains(that is correct spelling btw) didn't achieve a lot but I am pretty sure that's it.

Hindu Kush. Karakorum is north of Taxila.

miotas

The Hindu Kush is a mountain range in eastern and central Afghanistan, northwestern Pakistan, and northwestern India.

It is the westernmost extension of the Pamir Mountains, the Karakoram Range, and is a sub-range of the Himalayas.
Well Wikipedia says everyone was right. :laugh4:

Cheers. ~

And another little factoid i got from there, not sure on the validity but its interesting non the less

It is also calculated to be the geographic center of population of the world.

I might be on the edge of the map but apparently I'm the centre of the WORLD Mwahahahaha :laugh4:
