I have both to express, many have, so instead of making countless thread saying why the game is so bad or so good list the good & the bad here.
Praise:
-Colourful, excellent graphics
-Small towns in regions give interesting diversity, plenty of regions as a whole
-Various factions & therefore more diplomatic relations to be made
-Much improved diplomacy & OK AI
-Diplomacy at the touch of a button, no annoying recruiting diplomats anymore
-Garrisoning and cover, development & star forts, all add to the games tactics on battlefields
-Military access needed for neutral trespassing, protectorates are obtainable
-Technology feature is interesting and has benefits
-Trade now has significances and importance for the first time in a TW game
-Options in government type & population is realistic
-Garrisons when attacked for harder capturing of cities, - used to be pipsqueak
-Enjoyable Multiplayer
-Alliances are stuck too more and AI go to war with your enemies
-Great time period
-Detailed unit models
-Regular patches and improvements
Rants:
-Low unit variation, horrific cloned units
-No naval invasions, game breaking, you cannot have ships and not invade with them!
-Bugged hugely with naval battles cutting out frequently and random CTD's
-Lack of historical accuracy
-Predictable in many places, can lead to repetitive and boring game play
-Major factions are mostly clones, Mughals aren't playable without modification???
-Ridiculous loading times
-Overpowered swordsmen, underpowered pikemen, expensive units
-Most cannons are still ineffective without highly upgraded technology
-Buildings for minor factions are restricted for no apparent reason, capital region minor towns remain fogged out unless you have units nearby.
-Lack of traits & characteristics, lack of family tree
-Inability to force diplomatic talks between computer controlled nations - can lead to a weak bankrupt AI
Yours?
