Do i have to keep a generel in each town, or how does that work?

You dont HAVE to keep a general in a town but they can help with trade and taxes. If there isent a general in town it is auto-managed by the AI.

You can set it to 'Manage all settlements' at the start. That way you can still manage settlement even without a general being present in it.

Doesnt that depend on their traits? A general can help make the town/city receive more trade & taxes or make the place Rebel.

Yes, but they are usually good enough to cause something good and i wanted to answer his question simply.

Generals afect trade, tax and farming income. Allso population growth, construction and recruitment costs, publick order and scualor. In short- EVERITHING. So yes you don't have to, but they can help you a lot. Training good governors/generals/kings is a central topic in all TW games. Theare are a huge treads here on this. So use the search engine and search.

In general, placing generals with high chivalry levels make the settlements grow faster which is particularly important if you are trying to get advanced units from castles asap.

As they have said, it is best to put them in. You can designate generals as governors and some as real generals to fight your wars for you.
