View Full Version : The Mind numbing Stupidity of Glenn Beck.

There were not 6,000 Mexican troops at the Alamo it was 2,400
The number of Texians ranges anywhere from 175-257. Most estimates now put the number around 210 not 189
If Travis and Bowie knew of Fannins fate at Goliad they would've tried to make a break for it
If Travis and Bowie knew about Santa Annas forced March through Mexico they would never have stayed
The "line in the sand" is probably very overblown
The battle of the Alamo is truly a clusterintercourse of bad decisions made by criminals, adulteress and pirates.
If I see Glenn Beck or Ted Nugent in real life, I'm roundhousing the both of them in the head.
This "history lesson" is such and utter pervasion cloaked in closet racism. God I loathe this man
I liked it when he pretended to set a guest on fire (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNp9GSbFQhQ). That was good TV.

I wanted to watch the video, but I've seen so much of his hysterics, that when I hear him speak, I instinctively turn the volume down and look away.
As such, I tried to watch the video, but after 10 seconds, I couldn't take it anymore and closed the window. Can I get the cliffs notes version?

Get with the program guys, on-air editorials are the new black in cable television. The truth of the matter is Fox & MSNBC with their editorialized lineups and occasional long format style coverage are trouncing traditional news channels like CNN in the ratings. People want more than up to the minute news and short format style news shows.
In an age where one can get live or timely news feeds from teh internets via one's personal computer, cell phone, etc. in an instant then tuning into some talking head whose entire job consists of giving you timely, up to minute news that isn't so new or as effective as the other mediums I mentioned becomes a pointless and redundant exercise.
I fail to see why yahoos like Beck, Olbermann, O'Reilly and Grace should not have a place on cable news. Why should cable news contain only 'straight news' when the average newspaper (or news magazine) sports everything else? Last I checked editorial columns, cartoons, obituaries, horoscopes, box scores, stock market lists, movie times and 'Dear Abby' letters can be found in virtually every newspaper and yet we consider that mish mash formula to be perfectly acceptable?!?

I'll let them speak for themselves... but I think the main complaint people have with Glenn Beck as opposed to say a different commentator, is that the man is spouting mindless drivel, hysteria, and biased stories designed to "shock" you with fear and tantalize your senses, and get you all fired up with emotion and divide us into "for" or "against" camps based on that emotion, rather than calm, rational, sophisticated analysis which talks about the facts in a more impartial manner, but still discusses them.
Much like the difference between Oprah and the Jerry Springer Show. One seems more serious (most of the time) and the other is just a mindless facade. From my perspective, anyway.
Sure, he who makes the most controversy gets the biggest ratings, but shooting animals with a wide-angle lens and setting it to music will get you big ratings too. Beer and porn and drugs get big "ratings" too... lowest common denominator kind of stuff. People object to it because his brand of sensationalism and emotion-based argument dumbs down the entire country. It literally gives me a headache to listen to him, I can't concentrate. That's dumbing me down, literally.
But hey, people watch it, and pro-wrestling too. It's fake, cheap entertainment. But not serious commentary on the state of the world, and people object to passing it off as such. It's just ratings-whoring. I wouldn't say "get it off the air", but I would say "maybe not watch it".
What is the Alamo? Is it a planet?

My biggest problem with Beck is that he's a drama queen.
:drama3: <- Beck.
If you've got a point to make or have an argument to put forth, just do it. Spare us all the antics.
Completely obnoxious. :wall:

I'm still a little sore that he called Ron Paul supporters a threat to national security during the 08 primaries, but he's a rodeo clown. :clown:

If I remember correctly, Xiahou is Republican/conservative...? Pretty sure. Anyway, Glenn Beck is that much of a turn-off. He's kind of like Michael Moore for the liberals. "Get him away from me! He's revolting and hysterical, and not in the ha-ha funny kind of way!"

I don't know why, but every time I see that excerpt of Glenn Beck 'crying', I'm instantly reminded of the 'tears in the coffee house incident' with Hillary Clinton. Anyone else had that?
Well anyway, as an outsider, I find this guy very disturbing.

Wow...+1 to Shepard Smith.
Even if it's mostly just petty actor bickering, it's nice to see that even the people at Fox recognize that Beck is a special breed of idiot among the Pundit Pantheon. Beck may well be sitting at Limbaugh's right hand.
Hopefully this will eventually lead to a civil war within Fox News. A three-sided battle to the death between Shepard Smith, O'Reilly and Beck.
And it will be glorious :gring:
I get a ride with my dad every week on tuesday, in that time we listen to some radio hosts, Glenn Beck sometimes comes on.
It gets annoying after a while, every other sentence Obama is being compared to Stalin, Kruschev, Castro and being called a Marxist. Those idiots dont even know what Communism is, and the reason they call him a marxist is because they want to sound original.
I don't think that's entirely accurate; rather, I think the wingnut-right is attempting to find an epithet with more teeth than "liberal." They kinda beat that one into the ground.
-edit-
I think Glenn Beck just watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAQ3XHUtU50) too many times. It would drive any man insane.

How long do you think before O'Reilly adds a 'Commie Alert Scale' to his show? Liberals are a shade of pink, all the way to Stalinist, bright red.
Of course, with the way they're going on about TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE recently they'll probably have to install a gaydar first.

Why watch the news when its so much easier reading it, as unbiased in a newspaper? (and Cheaper for that matter.)

I wouldn't say unbiased as much as "less biased."

I still fail to understand why a 3% tax increase on the rich, bringing it back to Clinton-era levels, makes our nation communist, especially when all the spending under Bush is what broke the budget.
Beware of Obama, the dreaded Commie-Nazi-Lefty-Loonie-Homo-sympathizer trying to slaughter all the unborn (and born) babies in the world and turn them into stem cells, and force everyone to have gay sex with minorities, the poor, and the communist Chinese!

Granted, its still relatively unbiased in comparison with cable news. Especially when its just the local paper.

So, the objections to Mr. Beck are that he got Alamo numbers wrong, he's clownish, and opposes POTUS?
Does he ever get anything right?

I've heard -- but cannot confirm -- that he is able to tie his own shoes and is not forced to choose only "loafer" style footware.
