Well, Carthaginians attacked me and this is what happend: Spartan hoplites as Carthagian general! Is this a bug? As i can remember: in past ive read that Carthagians had some Greek generals when fighting Romans in First Punic war, so its maybe it?

Provided you meet the requirements. Which I believe are simply to be at war with Rome at a certain time.

It's the personal bodyguard of Xanthippos, a mercenary spartan general who fought for carthage in the first punic war. He was the one who defeated the roman invasion of Africa

Ah, the coming of Xanthippos, the Greek mercenary general, who improved the Carthaginian strategy during the First Punic War.

Ha, it's 'ol Xanthippos :beam: I've teleported him once to Sikelia, but the bloke was killed by Romaioi legions in the end  Was kind of hoping of the inverse effect, but anyway.

Btw, the Spartiateshoplitai of carthage can't be retrained... poor Xanthipos... :shame: Anyway, he's decent general anyway...

Errr, General's Bodyguards do respawn, if I'm not mistaken.

So does anyone know what it takes to spawn him?

If you take a look at the FAQ, you'll see. Or maybe even a forum search to dig up some old threads.

Let Rome DOW on you before 250ish. He will spawn as a general. And he is a good one too. I adopted him as a family member in my current Carthage campaign.

Thanks for the input, I'll have to store this for my next Punic campaign.

Xanthippos' personal guards do respawn, but his companions aren't... and that was a big problem since I usually spent them in the front line skewering Triarii

Adopt generals? How? I only ever adopted promoted captains.

Of course, all the time, by incompetent louts that I turn down mostly.

But as I interpret the above statement a General built in a LVL MIC has been adopted, I have some of those as well as some Client Kings I would love to adopt or marry to my daughter instead of those lazy and incompetent patricians that actually propose or get of age...

The only way I know off to adopt anyone is when a captain wins and becomes Man of the Hour. If there is a way to actually just adopt me Gens, I would drink a celebratory ale.
