View Full Version : I've reached the Augustan era...but how?

I had basically given up on reaching the Augustan era - I didn't see any family members who had the right stats. It's now 106 BCE...my last faction leader died and I noticed that in every province there was the option to build the next level of barracks...and they all had Imperial Era units. So did I randomly have a family member who just happened to be faction heir and who just happened to have the traits required for the reforms? Could it be a bug? Is it programmed to do that if you reach a certain year? Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that the reforms have happened, but I'm slightly confused... -M

Have you right clicked on the character tab on the bottom HUD and searched through all your FM's to see if any have the reformer (not reformer, but you know what I mean..the Augustian equivalent) trait?

Yep and it I think he has the traits...so it appears I REALLY got lucky... -M

To get the reforms the reform guy must be your faction leader... Maybe check him for the augustus thread:book:

He did it again. Augustus managed to gain complete power in Roma without the Senate (you) even realizing it. haha

NOOO!!! The Republic is dead, los...[Augustus cuts in] No. I have brought peace to the world, and now the Republic has been restored. I've just *modified* it a little... :clown:

Speaking of which, I've noticed a couple big changes since this era began - first of all, it seems like the Eleutheroi have spammed whole stacks of ships in the Atlantic and even some in the Mediterranean. Is that just a coincidence or is there a trigger for that?

Also, I've noticed that since the reforms have come through, I've gotten a LOT of new family members. During the Marian era they were reaching adulthood at a painfully slow rate, but since the Augustan reforms have begun, I've been getting new family members almost every turn - one turn I even got something like 10! Is that supposed to be EB's way of representing Augustus' marriage laws and the 3-child rule? -M

I know the augustus and caeser traits give a fertility boost so that could account for some of it but more likely is that the game is creating lots of births to make up for your previous derth of FM's, there is a certian ratio of FM's to cities that it likes to maintain.

Yeah, but that's the thing - I haven't greatly increased the size of my Empire, nor have a particularly large number of family members died...it's like the game is increasing that ratio it likes to maintain... -M

Must just have been coincedence then, as far as i know EB (or any mod for that matter) cannot change how often FM's have children outside of give them fertility traits.

You can make it yoursekf really easy. Just change the conditions for the reforms.

Use this page to upload your save game onto this thread. You need to convert your save file to a .rar file to upload it. Then simply 'Copy link location' and paste here.

I'd like to play with your reforms too. :beam:

hmm...how do you convert a .sav file to a .rar file? -M

A Very Super Market

You use a program to compress the file. WinRAR is fine for now, but there are tons of them that can do this.

1.1 or 1.2?

Okay, I used Axifile to upload the game. Here's the link, hope it works: http://www.axifile.com/?6682083

Just a warning though that I'm not sure you guys would want to play this game: I've basically achieved the Pax Romana as, apart from the Eleutheroi, I'm not at war with anyone. Also, I've got something like 14 legions (legion = 1 stack) scattered at key points throughout the Empire for maintaining peace and I have something like 27 million mnai. I'm not bragging, there just doesn't seem to be much to do on that game, unless you want to start another war with the AS.

Ps. @ Celtic Punk - it's 1.1

Woah, dude. Put the camera phone away...it hurts mein eyes! (Are eyes masculine?)

I'd probably roleplay a massive civil war so that the number of territories rapidly reduces...or something like that.

That's not the camera phone - that's the sheer awesomeness of the Imperium Romanum. :clown:-M

I'd just declare war on AS and everyone and then do a scorched earth back to the west to italy.
