Strange/annoying problem

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but a few weeks ago after Methuselah's latest post on my profile the notification did not go away, it is still there but there is no new posts on my profile. A similar thing happened today, someone tried to join my social group but now the notification will not go away after checking it. Is there anyway to fix this?

I've had it a bunch of times. It manifests when someone posts a VM at the same time that you try and read it, or something like. Always some sort of misunderstanding by the forums that causes it. Oddly enough, if it happens again, it either fixes it or makes it worse. :shrug:
