I have a problem!

Well this is me first day on this site so here goes nothing...

Well to start out with:

1. I have medieval Total war & Viking invasion ( Came in Battle collection)

2. i played it for 2 years than moved got a new comp.

3. I install it, do a custom battle to see if it works ( it does)

4. Next day try campaign, Well i click on it it goes to loading screen, First time takes for everso i click my mouse and it kicks me out of game no error signs... i though "i must just have click when i shouldn't have" so i go back and wait (take 3 minutes to load to campaign) it gets there just finished loading and just like that it kicks me out...i have no idea whats wrong with it. You'd think that if custom battle worked so should campaign.

5. I uninstalled it and put it away saddened that it died for about 4 months.

6. I thought hrmm maybe it would work one day so i put it in it installed ( now one thing that was kinda weird was that this time it didn't ask for me CD key which is strange to me) but yet as i try custom battle works but the same thing with campaign.


So if any of you can help me that would be most helpful :)

Check the sticky on top. Most likely it's the up and down buttons.

Game asks you cd key only when you try to play multiplayer.

What video card does your new computer have? There is a known problem with the campaign and nVidia cards. You may be able to fix this by replacing the files mentioned in the sticky Weebeast mentioned.

Well im glad you guys are helping me... I dont exactly understand what u mean by "Sticky"

And my graphics card is a 9200 Nividia (pritty sure)

ok so i looked atit (Thx you drone) But im afraid that i dontreally understand what hes sayying.
Ok so i know he had the same prob as me, i know he fixedit by doing somthing with ?!?Vanila?!? (No idea) I know he replaced these2 files with ones from a mod, dont exactly know how..(u see people here use shortened versions and im afraid that i dont understand all of them) if you could kind of lay it out like step by step. not to the point of "ur iding e right?"

If you could that would be awsome (Im about to look it over again and see if i can figure it out.

well its wrking fine man its awsome :) but lol its seems i have one last thing. when i do custom battle it wont let me click o the unit unless my camaras almost past it and i put the cursor in the middle of the screen. and when i point on an enemy it wont work either. heck when i try to click on a peice of ground it oes exactly where the camara sits. so i click in front of my units they turn around and come towards me instead !! anyone got sugestions?

Unfortunately, MTW apparently will not work with NVidia cards above the 7xxx series.

Somewhere there is a disconnect between the drivers for the later versions and the program; no solutions found so far :(

It sure sounds like the pointer problems with Nvidia cards. As pointed out; solutions are few and the only one that truly works (as far as I know) without flaws is spelled "ATI". About 50-100 Euro later and a another GFX-card (ATI) this problem are probably dust - as I have said many times before.... :wink2:

Well, you do whatever you want of course Renegade....

Anyway, as far as I am concerned M2TW can't really compete with the original MTW and especially so if you play an altered version of MTW. From RTW and onwards the TW-games essentially becomes a diffrent thing all together and whatever excellent charachteristics that STW and later on MTW had are pretty much lost and replaced with an entirely new direction and focus of the TW-series. In essence: less tactics more strategic management.

What once was a primarily a worldclass battlefield-simulator changed to a strategic micromanagement game focused on babysitting cities and governors where as battles are pretty much just for show and little else in comparison to MTW/STW. Battles in STW and MTW are like batteling an adult where as battles in RTW an onwards are strictly for kindergarten only - the AI simply is a big fat disapointment and essentially got the brains of a shoe (which can't be modded btw). Thus I personally have little fun with those later games regardless of the "oh so sexy" GFX (which by the way are not even close to compensate for all flaws present and accounted for)....

M2TW also have an even poorer interface, controles, stability and loading times than MTW does so I have a real hard time seeing how it ever going to be better than MTW? Anyway, if you can live with all that, it's your headache and there is little stopping you - if you can't, ATI is pretty much your only option here and it's 50-100 euro away. Your choice.... :wink2:
