reason i ask is that i recently closed off a campaign around 220ish due to the AI doing pretty much nothing at all (and those that were doing anything were attacking me)... I know this can be random depending on the campaign and have had the AI do lots of work on other campaigns.. but i noticed that the alex.exe is meant to be pretty good for EB .. anyone have a comment on this?

these are just some examples of what i mean by the AI doing "nothing" in my previous campaign , and i know that this is not always how it goes down ( used toggle_fow)

*this is also without any kind of ceasefires etc.

-Casse has 2 full stacks sitting in the middle of england for the entire game , they only take 2 towns.
(i think this is commen though)

-Koinon sends full stacks into Mak city , seiges for 3 turns , then breaks the seige and sits the stacks down south where there is nothing at all.

-Romani walks with full stacks into eluth territory , then pulls back and sits units waiting in random location on map for 20+ turns .. same thing with epriots

-Haysad rampages sauromate , only to then march their stacks passed their remaining towns and into the middle of europe ( doing nothing at all ) .

maybe just had a strange run of the map...

I use BI.exe. Naval invasions, all that. I dunno what else alex.exe brings to the table but apparently it gives a significant performance increase.

Rtw with BI for me - gotta love those naval invasions! I'd probably use alex if i owned it, but BI serves me well

RTW vanilla. I would prefer to run on BI, and though I have that opportunity, it would mean transferring ~5 GB worth of data to another computer for some very confusing reasons. Ah, well, I'll be done with the AP tests soon and I shall have my time then.

alex.exe. Combines the goodies of BI with yet more goodies from ALEX. I recommend it to others too. Vastly improved AI, both battle, campaign and diplomacy. Also naval invasions and night battles, plus immortality, the thing that got me into it in the first palce. I hate losing my generals to old age :P

BI is much better than Alex.exe,
especially the camera cuts Alex.exe, this is intolerable, BI also have night battles, units that can swim and shieldwall.
Diplomacy is the same for both never there was diplomacy in Alex.exe. how is this possible improved?
Alex.exe a mod was done very quickly.

I've heard that the AI retrains units in alex.exe as well. Is this true?

I use Alex.exe ; they do retrain, and AI usually attacks with almost full stacks (no more happy 1/2/3 unit-wandering hunting)... they do retraining their units (prepare to face gold chevroned Gaesatae in Aedui! And silver Spartans in Sparte!)) and holding your full stack of elite with their full stack of elite too...

the only downside: AI, especially Romani, tends to spam a lot of assassins...

EDIT: And Seleukid AI Spams TONS of Pantodapoi... (happy hunting and gives easy gold-chevron) ; Epeiros hire TONS of Mercs (where they got their money to pay such full-merc stack??) ; A lot of AI spams a lot of unit... even if left unchecked, Karthadast SPAMS HADORKIM HAQUDUSIM!!!
