Lose one to Gawjam~Heruskoz. that will be some nice roleplay! Or maybe lose an eagle to Seleuciea:2thumbsup:
Shame if it wouldnt work, I lost one to Eburonum once, when I crushed the rebels there with the second army I neither got a report I had it back.
I remember in my BI days I had a awesome general with the Alemanni, he used lombard berserkers and stole more than three eagles from the Eastern Roman Empire. He got the trait Eagle collector (+3 morale to all troops on the battlefield). His nickname was then: Rando "of the eagles":beam:

How do you lose an eagle in this game? I've played hundreds of turns and it's never happened to me... -M

Get marian (or imperial troops), get a first cohort and lose them (preferably with a large army when fighting another large army), then it will be taken to the nearest enemy town.

Is as I suspected, I got to get the Reforms and try loosing one to the Suebi Juggernaut just for RP sake.

just to clear things up, i didn't lose the battle, my 1st cohort was mauled a bit, but they didn't rout or anything.

IIRC, you have to kill the enemy general that took the eagle from you. Although, I don't have any experience with eagles in EB.

What if it is a captain? And he merges with someone else? AFAIK, the general must be killed because it is he who carries the hidden trait. Captains do not have traits.

It seems to me that this is broken. I killed the enemy general the battle it was taken in. So, im not sure if it was even supposed to show up. Oh well, just thought it was cool that that happened.

Did you kill that general and lose the eagle in the first place with a captain? If at least one of those two battles featured your army being led by a captain, then it is quite obvious why the trait failed.

Ok, My General was seiging Gergovia in the first place. An army relieved the city and i destroyed both armies, killing the General that was hiding in Gergovia. Thats when I got the notification. There was a small army left in Gergovia after that battle so the next turn I assualted and won. Im not sure what happened.

Now thats interresting: I have never lost an eagle in RTW :inquisitive:(although I never managed to win one either:no:).
However I have heard of this - I remember to have read somewhere that if the officer who is carrying the eagle dies (unit doesn't have to rout and battle doesn't have to be lost) then it is lost but can be returned somehow. (I have no idea how :wall:)
Anyone ever managed to retake an eagle?

They did. Its a high school level book. Its called "Eagle of the Ninth" its not militaristic, but it about a lame centurion and his slave going over Hadrians wall to find the lost eagle. Its very intresting and a good read. I read couple years ago and I have been wanting to read it again for a while.

I lost an eagle to the Saka who had created a Parthian style Empire, in fact I lost my entire veteran army in a massive battle in Syria.
The eagle was taken to Palmyra and it took several years to take the city but I never got the eagle back!
