View Full Version : My first 'persistent' CTD - anything to be done?

1730, GBR, playing a really enjoyable post patch campaign, and now I'm getting CTD (white screen, 'Empire has stopped working') as soon as it gets to the Huron turn.

Is there anything that can be done? I know in Rome and MTW it was usually a case of getting rid of a bugged general or som't, but am I right in thinking there's no console command in Empire?

Has anyone got round an AI0-turn CTD?

i get the same CTD, but it is just random for when it happens.

In my experience with this kind of CTD, I believe it indicates that an some point the faction responsible (the Hurons in your case) somehow created a bugged unit which they are attempting to move during the turn process--probably in or out of a capital.

I have had good luck with simply going back to a previous saved turn and playing through to the same point. If it still happens then you may try going back additional turns until the problem does not reoccur.

The idea is that the unit will still be created at some point, but will not be bugged on the next time. I know it's a pain, especially if one has fought several difficult battles in previous turns, but it may be the only way to save your campaign.

I've gotten in the habit of saving almost every turn, and then deleting old turns after 10 or so to save disk space. The worst I've ever had to do using this method was to have to go back 3 turns.

Good luck
