England Tech??

I keep reading how England gets a leg up on tech tree but in short and long campaigns, as England, I'm starting at square one on the tech tree with only one school. What am I missing? Thanks!

Isaac Newton my boy! Britain starts out with a 6+ star gentleman that can be put into the school and cut reseach time in half. You can also demolish the church and build a second school on the town slot so you can research two things at once by turn 4.
