Please oh Please can CA sort out the battlefield AI!!
I was playing as GB and had just taken Madrid, A Spanish army (Consisting of 1 unit of Demi Cannons, 1 general and body guard, 2 units of line infantry and one unit of Militia) moved up to siege, me so I sallied forth.(I had 1 general (15 horses), 1 unit of Yeoman cav (16 horses),1 unit of demi cannons, 2 units of militia (98 & 99 troops) 1 unit of Line infantry (98) and 2 units of Pikemen (15 & 16) )
I deployed my troops and Demi cannons (well it was 1703 ~;) ) and clicked on begin battle.
I was happy to see that the Spanish had deployed using cover and had placed there cannons in what looked like a good position. I moved my infantry up advancing in a line (my cannons were out of range). The Spanish all moved from cover and marched to stand almost on top their Demi-cannons once I was in range they opened up and took out their general and his complete body guard in the first salvo! My troops stopped in a hollow in the landscape and watched as the Spanish guns slowly smashed their own army to bits!!
Eventually I flanked the guns and took up the defensive positions the Spanish had left and sat their shooting the rest of the Spanish force without any fire being returned.:wall:After a short while the remainder of the Spanish force fled (without firing a shot) and I sent my Pikemen in to sort out the guns (they only lost 3 guys in the battle.)
I saw the same thing happen pre- 1.2 patch and I was really hoping that things would have been sorted out.
I like to win battles, but I like to win where there is a bit of a challenge, please oh please can CA please try to sort this out
p.S. I took Madrid by taking the fort, blasting the walls on either side of the gateway causing the majority of the defending troops (who had created a mass mosh pit over the gateway) to get completely stuck, with no way off the walls, leaving the rest of the fort almost undefended. So marching my army around the back of the fort and climbing over the wall I walked into the circle/town square? and only had a small fight with a couple of Militia units and then waited the two minutes until the timer ran out! Hoorah Madrid was mine.
