what!?? do they mean we have to wait 2-3 months or buy the full version? that is what i call excellent marketing strategy http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

lucky for them i will buy it anyway but whta a sad day this is.

The way i read it was that for Europe the Mongol expansion was coming out first and a while after that they will be releasing the Warlord edition for the others. I dont undertsnad why they dont release them at the same time seeing some people might be holding off buying Shogun and just getting them together.

Well, does anyone know when the promised patch is going to be available? It's not there now.

Phew, for a moment there I though I would have to order the expansion pack online (overseas) to avoid the wait. Luckily that was not the case.

However, Europeans who have held off purchasing the game in order to buy the Warlord Edition, as Dark Phoenix-san pointed out, will be disappointed - either wait even more, or pay a whole lot more. While cynics could see this as a "clever" marketing strategy by EA, it's likely that there are not many of the people in question; after all, the original plan was to *never* release WE in Europe. This is better than that, surely...

As for Phoenix-san's concern, I'm sure the European release schedule will be pretty much followed when it comes to Asia, Oceania etc. Maybe it'll be a bit late, but probably not significantly.

Overall, this r0x0rz j00r b0x0rz (sorry if that caused a seizure to someone http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif). Now all they have to do is to make that date... The predators are watching. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well, knowing EA, i don't expect the patch to be available until well after the expansion hits the shelves. They wouldn't want to deter any potential spenders.

Lol, they actually had the patch done 8 months ago but they figured they should spend time making an expansion to go with it. And make some $$$.

I found this in the FAQ on totalwar.com (http://www.totalwar.com/community/FAQ.htm) :

Quote Q. What is happening with Patch V 1.13?

A. We will be releasing the new patch soon after the release of The Mongol Invasion / Warlord Edition. The patch will allow original STW players to continue to play online against people who have The Mongol Invasion / Warlord Edition version of the game. We apologise for the delay, but felt it best to release a patch that will incorporate all the network performance enhancements that we have done with TMI/WE, and still allow original STW players to play against TMI / WE players online.[/QUOTE]

The bummer is I will be gone and will miss the release date (I'll be in Spain). Kinda sucks; I was hoping to get in one or two weeks of fine .Org info on the Expansion before calling it quits for a few months. Bummer.

Hey Solypsit,

Ok ok, we all agree that Africa starts in the Pyrenees but as far as I remember we have pretty darn good software shops in Spain nevertheless.... if the release is for Europe on the 29th then you should be able to have it. Bring a laptop ! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Also, depending on where you are in Spain you should be able to find one of those "Network game shops" or cyber cafes if you want to read the forums... if you dont want to disconnect from the community you do not have to http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Metha

P.S. I think I am posting here a bit too much lately for someone who has already decided not to buy the expansion, hehe

Why aren't you going to buy it? Have you played it (everyone else here seems to have tested it)? If it sucks, please tell me so i don't waste my money.

On a side note: does anyone know what will be in ver 1.13? Will the new units be included?

Sorry to sound so newbie-ish, but i'm a newbie, and that's the nature of the beast. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Lord Aeon only one person here as played it as far as I know and that was an early build. The reason that Metha doesnt want to buy the expansion is that he doesnt think the customer support is good enough. The next patch will not include new units thats what the expansion is for. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

However, version 1.13 will include "compatibility" between the original and expansion games; ie. although you will not have any new units at your disposal, you can still play a game against someone using the new units. Maybe.

And I can confirm Dark Phoenix-san's statement: only one person here has tested that early build of the expansion, and then there's the possibility of official beta testers, but they aren't telling. So, at this point, nobody will be able to tell whether the expansion will suck or not (but all signs point to "not" http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif). Metha-san is just ticked off because he thinks the developers are not behaving in a sufficiently subservient fashion. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
