In my Romani campaign, the Aedui for some reason own Eravacouw at around 235BC, including a full garisson in Ak-Ink. I have no idea why, since their expansion has otherwise been fairly normal, they own most of northern Gaul while the Arverni hold the south. I noticed the same thing when reading someone's Pontic AAR, and I wondered why on earth such a situation would come about? :inquisitive:

It will have rebelled to them.

Yeah, it is quite odd, as I have never heard of this happening before, to this settlement I mean, but whatever. Rebellion is the only possibility here. Let me check that file that tells which cities rebel to which factions and I will come back...

Think all those eastern celtic lands revolt to the aedui even the illyrian provinces do which is very strange.

This "creator" tag creates a lot of problems for some factions, especially if the rebelled settlement is far away and can't realistically be defended. In those cases the AI just recruits a full stack army that is sitting there, doing nothing, but draining money. I saw Arverni fighting to death with Sweboz and Aedui, but they had a full stack army in Ankyra that was idly sitting there. Same goes for Aedui, they get those Eastern Celtic settlements and try to build enormous armies there, while losing core regions in their homeland.

There is no appropriate faction creator for the northern Illyrians. They weren't Hellenistic or Thracian, so that rules out Epeiros and the Getai. They were influenced by the Celts, though, and the Boii lived nearby, so it makes sense to let them rebel to the Aedui. It's certainly not perfect, but every city has to have a faction creator.

A sizeable portion of the Balkans was at this time ruled by the Skordiskoi/Scordisci who were Celtic, at least in the upper echelons of their society.

Ahh interesting, what about the indian provinces revolting to the Pahlava? I would have thought that they would have had more of a connection the the hellenistic states due to all the colonies set up there by Alexander in the recent past.

Unless they were fairly mixed with Iranians in which case I imagine the Pahlava would be the best choice

I think that is because the faction creator determines the culture of the town. Eastern Greek would be more accurate than Eastern, but it would be inaccurate to have no culture penalty for the Seleucids or Bactrians, who are most likely to conquer these towns. Hence the team gave it to Pahlava, which is less historical, but produces more "historic" results.

It's also possible the Aedui attacked because of the Scripted Epeiros Alliance.
