Recently on my Great Britain campaign, before the beginning of my next turn the DoW action warning popped up (If you continue with this action its gonna be war do you wish to continue etc. etc.). I wasn't sure what country it was at first, because I didn't move any units outside my borders the last turn, so I was curious and clicked "declare war". The Diplomacy window pops up for a split second before it CTD, but for that split second I can see that both sides was Great Britain, with both sides with the same ruler. Anyone else get this crash too?

Sounds weird. At least the first part (the DOW popup) is explicable. It happens when a move order into a province to wich the player has access which then changes the owner during the time it takes the army to get there.

I have not seen as many lately, but I have been playing less too.
I have had some very weird DoWs but not that one. I once invaded GB which I had been at war with for ever. I landed two groups. The first group was fine but when I tried to land the second I got the DoW pop up. It said Portugal…but it wouldn’t let me land or quit and was caught in some kind of loop so I had to kill the game to get out of it.
To be fair, that was a couple of fixes ago…and at this moment my computer tells me I have no internet connection and can’t go on-line…
I've had the DOW popup at the beginning of the turn. I always hit cancel move to save from reloading. I've figured it was usually I was heading to blockade a port and a neutral nation beat me to it. Never knew it could be a DOW against yourself though.

That sounds like the port was damaged by Portuguese ships earlier and not "retaken" by the British. Raided ports (via ship) seem to actually change ownership even after the fleet left. In your case the port was probably still registered as Portuguese.
This can lead to stupid DOW's after a faction is destroyed but some port somewhere is still "owned" by that faction. Big bug that one.
It can also cause troubles for the AI if they don't have armies nearby anyway (e.g. on islands). It it not capable of recruiting a militia unit, retake the port and then disband it again as any human player would.

Actually it was a beach landing and not a port. But like I said it was pre patch.
