ok, time for the vote on the best Metallica album.

for me, this one is easy: Ride the Lightning. Master of Puppets was a close second, but there were a few songs on MoP i didnt like, while with RtL i loved every single song, and i still do.

St. Anger, while at first i didnt like it at all, needs to be listening to after seeing the movie "Some kind of Monster." i hated St Anger at first, but now i think, after seeing that movie, it is actually quite good and it has been unfairly written off as a bad album. i personally think that "the unnamed feeling," "frantic," Some kind of monster" "Sweet amber" and "st. Anger" are all really good songs. granted, there are some songs i dont like, such as "shoot me again"

i think that ...And Justice for All is an ok album, but the guitars in each song is very repetitive and i find it tedious to listen to. i mean, listen to "eye of the beholder." very repetitive.

Kill em all is a good album, but i didn like a few songs. but once again, songs like "motorhead, Seek and Destroy, and Metal Militia are just amazing.

Death Magnetic- i liked this album. it showed that Metallica was beginning to return to the older days, but they are getting old, and its not the same.

the Black Album was pretty good as well, but not amazing like RtL.

dont get me started on Load and reLoad.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Where is the "I like polls" option? :whip:

Ride the Lightning. Kill Em All was ok, but it was very raw and you could feel the Mustaine influence, which just didn't mesh well (best Megadeth album thread coming?). Master of Puppets and Justice for All were good, Black album ok, the band ceased to exist for me after that.

Probably not the "best" Metallica album, but certainly my favorite was "Garage Days Revisited (1987)" a.k.a. "The $5.98 E.P. (1987)"

They really seemed to have fun on that album + very enjoyable to hear them cover some of the songs that eventually influenced Metallica's style.

I forgot about that one, I still have the cassette somewhere. ~D Good choice!

1. Ride the Lightning - just about my favourite album

2. ...And Justice for All - Title track, Harvester of Sorrow, One...etc.

3. Master of Puppets - very close to ...And Justice, Welcome Home is their best IMO

4. Black Album - still good, but nowhere near the top 3

5. Everything else, after Black Album I like very little of their output. Death Magnetic is okay, but no better than many other bands around at the moment. Seek and Destroy is good, but again, with some exceptions, not special.

Master of Puppets just slightly beats out ...And Justice for All to me, although I probably listen to the tracks from AJfA more often. Ride the Lightning is brilliant, but I heard Master of Puppets first and, truthfully, found it a better developed and realized package than it's predecessor. Probably if I'd heard them in the other order I would have a different opinion, but I've never shed my initial reaction.

ok, time to bump.
the reason why i didnt review Load and reLoad earlier was because i never went through them. i think i only listened to one song in each until this weekend.
but now i can review them.
Load is quite good. as in the case of St. Anger, it was unfairly judged. songs like "the outlaw torn," "ronnie," and "bleeding me" are all very good, and "mama said" reminds me of "simple man."

reLoad isnt as good, but still, unfairly judged, especially with songs like "fuel" and "fixxxer."
