Noob question about AI.

When in open battle why does the attacking army always move into range of my Longbowmen and just wait to be destroyed? theoretically i need no other unit except Longbowmen. Is there a fix for this?

What difficulty level do you play? On Very Hard, the AI always charges right into me, even if I am the attacker.

Nothing to do with AI difficulty level, everything to do with army composition.

Longbowmen are all you need. Build yourself a stake fort to defend and you'll never need anything else.

Retinue ones are quite decent for melee too ~:)
I'd still throw in a cav unit or two to chase down routers though and to crush massive amounts of enemy infantry.
