Look i understand that its a relatively casual RTS for a hardcore player by me, but don't you all remember the old days when you played Age of empires and thought that you were in heaven.
So what do yall think should i buy it or not, i mean i love RTS and play them more than anything else
The charm of this game lies in how casual it is, I really like the levels were they combined halo's fast paced gameplay with the rts style. The story line was truly an awesome experience to play, however when you stop playing the main storyline and try to play it like a regular rts it just fails.
The story line is excellent and fun to play but it can be finished far too quickly. I would recommend hiring it for a day as that is all you will need to get everything this game has to offer.
Basically in the storyline where it plays as an action rts it is awesome, but it sucks as a regular rts.

Yeah thats basically what i garnered from the reviews but i was wondering if out of campaign if there is any playability without live like i mean can you go back and play maps without the campaign

You can, but where halo wars succeeds is in the action rts style of its campiagn mode, it just doesn't have any depth to be playable as a regular rts outside of campaign mode.

Old days? Mate that game taught me to be a gamer.
The thousands of games I played in that. Random maps, deathmatches, anything.
Its called replayability.
Sadly, IMO, Halo Wars has none. I played it for two hours and was bored. Not worth the money.

It's recently acquired some DLC with new modes (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/halo-wars-gets-strategic-options). How much they add to replayability I can't say - I don't have the game.

Eh i think ill rent it, and if i like it ill go from there.
Ha, AOE, ah i still play that game on occaison. If Halo Wars is anything like that (same people made it) then im sure ill enjoy it at least a little
My brother bought it, but I have neglected to even play it. From what I've seen, it's very simplistic for an RTS, and not very interesting, either- my advice for Bungie would be to stick with shooters and leaves Strategies to the developers who do it well.

It was made by Ensemble, the people behind the 'Age of' series. Their final game, actually - Microsoft shut them down.
Ensemble was told my Microsoft to take the Halo setting and make a RTS which would appeal to the existing audience. It’s not really intended to appeal to the hardcore strategy nut.
