Go here (http://games.allmyfaves.com/traveleriq/?4f29=f6bb) and take the geography quiz. Then post your score, level, and IQ.
I got 130 IQ with 58,000 score in level 12, the last one, only 2,000 points from the 60,000 required to win.
Enjoy!
Aemilius, normal people do not feel immediately attracted to quizzes the way you are. The title should say Geography game, since it's actually kinda like a game. I tend to visualize "quizzes" in the form of questions. :smash:
Now to everyone else. You should really try the game. It's actually fun, you need to point out as close as possible, in a map, the locations of several famous, and not so famous, cities and places around the world. :medievalcheers:
I got a lousy 101 traveler's IQ. Africa killed me.

I got 49115 on level 10
114 IQ.
Although, the test is really how well do you know your countries + knowledge of the cities of canada, russia, china, brazil, usa, argentia and australia. It's pretty easy to pinpoint the capital of sri lanka.
Things that killed me in the last round were the pacific islands...and mixing up new guinea and equitorial guinea.
407,507 was the score.

:skull: Ouch. Yeah, that is almost exactly on the other side of the world. Pacific also killed me, but Papua New Guinea is still South-east Asia by my reckoning. It is right east of Indonesia.

On the 3rd try.
On my first ended in level 11. On my second on level 12. On my third I finished the game.
You beat AP?! :laugh4:
Congrats bro. I cannot pass level 8. I feel retarded. :shame:

You beated AP?! :laugh4:
Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to beat this game too. I came short of mere 2,000 points on my first try. I can get 60,000. Just not today, as I have to go to sleep now. 23:00 here, almost.
EDIT: Wait a sec. I had a higher score than you, Jolt, but I did not finish level 12. :inquisitive: Something is not right. I finished with the first two numbers in the score being 58. You have 57. How is that possible? Follow my link I posted and take it again. It seems that a while ago you played a different version. Otherwise how can the discrepancy in scores be explained??
You beat AP?! :laugh4:
Congrats bro. I cannot pass level 8. I feel retarded. :shame:
Sure. It is pretty easy since they name the country when they name the city/place. I know every country in the world. Plus the islands are a bit intuitive. But then again, I'm an International Relations student, so its kinda my job to be geographically aware. Yeah, level 8 for me is still easy level. :P
Congratulations again. I used to be better at Geography, but it's been like 3 years since I studied a map of Africa.
@AP: You might have gotten a higher punctuation at the early levels, whilst he got enough at level 12 to beat the game. The points are measured per level, so it's irrelevant for level 12 what you got in previous levels.

NOTE: Due to a quick freeze-up I clicked a thing a couple of times and ended up accidentally clicking on Australia when they were asking for Goa, that former Portuguese colony on the West Coast of India. That was level 11. Had it not been for the freeze-up, my score would have been higher.
BTW, the screenie was taken with Aviary. Try it. Pretty useful, you can select what you take a picture among other things.

I lost a huge amount of points clicking the "Next" button, though. It was winding down, and as I clicked it went away, meaning that I had chosen the Southern Atlantic to be the capital of Micronesia....

That is part of the Portuguese conspiracy to make sure only Portuguese (me) get the highest points! [/joke]

This isn't exactly a test on geography... more about map reading and country and place knowledge. Plus the map so small that countries such as Lichtenstein can barely be seen. Also, the time you get is ridiculous... One of these should be changed. untimed would result in people googling, but with the size of the map, you wont get it perfectly accurate and you wont get the same satifaction as you would when you do it just on knowledge.
I got 112 on round 10. Despite having studied the places within africa and google earthing constantly... I got my ass whooped.
Did anyone else get asked to place Nagasaki?
Aemilius Paulus
05-25-2009, 15:52
The closest I go was 4 km, and that was for NYC.
And yes, I was asked to place both Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The game asks for three things: World Capitals; World Cities; and Famous Places in the World.

I think the people that made this test are Australian...
I find America to be the most difficult. I've heard of Boston sure, I've seen in on tv, I know it's in America and not way up north. But wether it's east, west or central or what stat. well Gah! The only few I know are LA, Miami, Orleans (due to hurricane), NY and Washington. And I know that the car producing cities are around the big lake. Canada is even worse. At least in africa and south east asia, the two other somewhat hard ones, I know about where they are. North America? I just know it exists but where?

Well, quite obviously Jolt did. Like I said, the closest I got was 4 km for NYC. And 5 for Bandar Seri Begevan.
Plus the map so small that countries such as Lichtenstein can barely be seen.
The site where I play has a larger map. It's not that larger although I have a more easy time placing the spots better.

Somehow, I got a higher score than Jolt despite failing the last level:

464,110 level 11, IQ 120.
and it would have been higher, but its a b*** to aim on a map that small.:inquisitive:
at least I got the arab cities all within 50 km :clown:
Yeah, most Arab cities in the program are fairly easy. Dubai, Sanaa, Amman, Mecca, etc.

Same here. I still won, but really, that game is unfair. Too small. No skill in randomness, as that is what usually decides the accuracy in that game. I am going to try Jolt's site now, as he stated the map was slightly larger there.
Couldnt get past level 5.
And yes, the map is too small. Missed Buenos Aires for 300 kilometers.

That's the beauty of it. "Nations" are not necessarilly defined as autonomous. Scotland is a nation, but it is not sovereign, etc

True. Nation doesn't equal State. Even a State doesn't need to be sovereign, but it is one of the key structures of any normal state. A Nation means a culturally similar people. It comprises of the people inside its Nation-State (If it exists) and its diaspora.

Little comfort that gives me. How am I supposed to know the capital of Guernsey, some minuscule island crown dependency of Britain?? Just wait until you guys get a bunch of Russian Autonomous Republics. There are hundreds of them.
Thus why I didn't even bother to do the quiz. >__>

Guernsey, the other one is Jersey. The canal islands, under the british crown, there is an even smaller one that I cannot recall.
Russian dependencies? Are you talking about Yakutia or Ingushetia? Or maybe Karelia...?:sweatdrop:
