I was looking through the edu-file, and I have question about mounts. What are the differences game-wise between them? I know that fast pony makes the unit fast moving. What's the difference between pony and heavy horse? Heavy horse and barded horse?

And I found some answers in desc_mount-something. ponys have a mass of 1.25, Heavy horse 1.75, and other 2.00.

I think speed is a separate attribute from mass. Mass controls who wins in a collision. Barded horses will send people flying and break through lines easier, where ponies will get tangled up.

The 'fast' type uses a few different animations to the stock horse. These allow it to move at a different speed on the battlefield since every cycle of hte animations will move the unit further. Likewise 'heavy' horse animations work the opposite way. This is the only way to control how a units speed is on the battlefield.

Mass is used in collisions, and where a unit uses a 'launching' type melee attack. The heavier the unit, the greater the effect. Human troops always get a value of 1.

I think theres 3 speeds that horses go. Fast Pony is the fastest, Heavy/Barbed are the slowest and all other are between them. It becomes evident when you try to catch Kazaks or Turkomans with your Western Knights.
