Stack stuck in fort

I have been reading this board for quite a while, but I haven't seen the problem come up that I have encountered.

As Prussia I was at war with Poland. I took a star fort of theirs in one province while another army took their other province. I forced Poland to be my protectorate and my troops were expelled from their territory. Well except for my forces that were in the star fort. They just sat right outside the fort and couldn't be moved.
Next turn and Poland declares war on me. And I still can't move my stack next to that fort! I can't take units out of it either.

Is there a workaround?

I know. I just hate that I'll have to fight an important (and time consuming) battle all over again. I hoped that there was another option.


Or disband.

Disbanding my biggest presence on my eastern border isn't my ideal solution.

It can be a royal pain in arse when stuff like that happens.
