Which unit in EB do you find the most worthy of Gork and Mork, and the WAAAGH? :clown:

(For those who don't understand, Gork and Mork are two gods: one hits you when you're looking, the other hits you when you're not. Debating upon which is which results in the WAAAGH!!!.
The WAAAGH!!! on the other hand, is like a migration. Yet it carries the properties of genocide, pillaging and friday night pubcrawls. It is also a common warcry.)

Great pics! thanks for sharing Macilrille! That seems a really interesting organisation! Back in Canada, it's mostly western european Medieval assossiations that are. Although in a festival#I saw, this year for the first time, a assossiation specialized in viking reenactement and lifestyle! Interesting that your combat are at one touch, as I read on your site. Where I fight, it's 3 touches combat. Makes the combat somewhat longer. Best weapon combinaison... at least for me, axe and sword... Withg the lower tip of the axe you can toss away the shield of the opponant while striking with the sword. Can you wear two weapons in your organisation? I didn't read such combinaison on the site, that's why I'm asking!

2. Yes, I used it often and consider myself one of the experts. It is a blind alley, despite its fun, an opponent with large shield + sword and equal skill will beat you in my 16 year experience.

But don't expect me to just sit here watching you do your "thing". I've grown enough sick of this watching my little brother use Greeklish instead of Greek (and using "i"s everywere instead of "oi", "y", "ei" etc.), as well as apply several of what we call "barbarisations" of our language for example. I just hoped I would't see the same things over here as well. Especially from people which I would consider educated and, at least, intelligent.

How comes that languages subished so much evolution since their apparition? It's because people judged, by the time's standard, stupid invented new words, changed the orthograph, and so on. If it would not be form those stupid ''ignorants'', you would still speak ancient greek and I don't know what I would speak because french would not exist! So nobody need to be insulted because of the ''degradation of language'' i mean, actually, I win my life by writing poetry... Considering this thread was intentended to be HUMOROUS, you're acting in a pretty darn partykillerish manner. I myself write almost exclusively in proper English/Finnish/etc. unless intent on bringing about a humorous reaction within the audience, but the time and place to defend proper language is somewhere else, sometime else, imho, than in this thread. Or, 'tleast, ought to be, as far my opinion is considered.

Ok. We are using this speak because, this game(warhammer 40,000) has a group called the orkz. Their two gods are gork and mork. The orkz also speak as if they have really heavly drawlling southern U.S. accent. We are just speaking as if we are getting into the story. Read some of the books and you'll understand.

J.R.R.T was a really bored and imaginative man. What else was a scholar to do when siting in a F***ing trench for most of ww1. Getting a bit touchy about our beloved fictional writer, are we Ghaust? You dissapoint me, really. As brilliant as one might be, if he looses connection with reality I consider him a madman, yes. Spending almost your entire life dedicated to "creating" a world of fantasy were "orks" and "elves" live, "inventing" whole new languages for them and the like seems like enough evidence he had a screw missing. Don't take me wrong, he probably was brilliant. Just not the type of guy I'd spend even a minute with. This includes all people that spend hours and hours behind a computer screen, getting hard-ons with digital women and being the people they always wanted to be but never could (actually never tried) in their real lives. And oh, I know plenty of those. This, of course, also applies to the bookworms that spend ridiculus amount of time reading fantasy, locking themselves in their protective shell and dreaming of this "perfect" world forever.

One, could say the same about us. We sit on the computer all day coming up with histories that never happened. We invent stories for what happens on a VIDEO GAME!!! If you want to get technical, what we do is worse. At least what he did was worth something. He contributed to the world, all we do is entertain the few people (In comparrison with the world) that visit this sight. I don't care that you don't like him. You have that right. Oh, he did not invent languages for the elves, orcs and other such races he had come up with.

He invented races (and their related histories) for the languages he had come up. Big difference. :yes:

He was a linguist, after all, y'know, and a folklore enthusiast.

Also, all this while he had a succesful career as a professor of Anglo-Saxon and later English language and literature in Oxford, and also had a succesful, life-long marriage with his beloved Edith, with whom he had no less than four children.

The elven languages and the whole Middle-Earth shebang was but a hobby to him. I fail to see how exactly he lead a pathetic non-life.

Hmmm, as i said earlier, I win my life presently with my poetry. I write symbolist poetry (as Verlaine and Rimbault) following the movement of the ''cursed poetes'' from 19th century. Symbolist, meaning, everything is suggested, not said, that the perfumes aren't smelled anymore, they're tasted... It's an example of the mixing of the sens that we use in the form of poem. Not at all. I, for one, don't sit even 5 hours per week playing EB. AARs are fun, but they do not spell my whole life for God's sake.

These guys can do just about anything. Hold the line, lobz de pointy 'fings, Shock the enemy, and never run. Eccelent morale and value. Cheap and useful infantry. Just how Gork 'n Mork likes em.

Edit: I just played a battle with these guys (full uprgade) against marian reformed legionaries (full upgrade) 1 unit V. 1 unit. The liguarians won, but just barely. 1 man left, before healing. I butchered the legionares. I have say then that the Gaemile Liguriae are equal in ability to the post marian reform infantry.

I find the way their speech is written rather lower class English (as in from southern Britain esp London).

The greenskins in "Warhammer Dark Omen" (is that a Lore-worthy source?) had a sort of grunting Sarf Lundun (=South London) accent (the sort so beloved of Guy Richie). This sometimes melds into a cockney accent too, but is marked by a more guttural tone IMHO.

The use of this accent (or is it a dialect?) is consistent with the class-sterotypes prevalent in Britain of stupid violent unwashed football fans. However I would argue it is a legitimate form of English and certainly not "imaginary" as maion seems to think it is.

I must say I share Maion's sentiment in desiring proper use of the forms of language but I concede that this is a chimaera, a somewhat elitist pipe dream, and adhering to "proper" forms is awkward and even unhealthy for language growth and development.

Its hilarious that orcs sound like poms (even in the LOTR films) and a thread on the most orc-like unti in EB is a fun distraction. Vote 1 mercenary wolf men.

Edit: the Clockwork Orange-spracht a page or so back was excellent, just excellent. Long live made up languages.
