View Full Version : Minnesota Mafia: The Senate Scandal [Concluded]

June 2, 2009

A certain Camel Lord wakes from his slumber. Though groggy, he clears his eyes and plops on his favorite reclining chair, before flipping on the morning news. As the typical hubbub is made over the economy, the Camel Lord brews himself a cup of coffee. Upon his return, as per usual, the topic had switched to local politics. A couple of talking heads were yammering to each other unintelligibly, when the main newsman interrupted, with BREAKING NEWS! A bit curious, the Camel Lord raised an eyebrow as he continued to sip his coffee.

The newsman shuffled his notes at his desk a bit nervously before clearing his throat for his BREAKING NEWS! announcement. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have breaking news here in studio 8, regarding to ongoing race for Minnesota's remaining senate position between Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken. Following the Coleman camp's decision to push the race all the way to the State Supreme court, the court has issued the following judgement: there is to be a complete and total recount of every vote cast in the election." The news caster turned to the talking heads beside him and asked them what they thought of the decision, which yielded a continuation of the previous yammering which was as intelligible as group of the muppet show discussing how to get off a pirate ship.

The poor Camel Lord sank a few inches in his chair, as he pondered whether or not to move to his more sane neighbors directly south. "What a debacle..." he muttered to himself.

Meanwhile, on the west side of of Minneapolis, in a luxury suite....

"Congratulations, Mr. Coleman!" an eager intern applauded. "Now we have a chance to keep that idiot Franken from ruining this country! Isn't the grea-" The lad was cut off by an irritated Norm Coleman.

"We haven't won jack yet! We bought some time, but there's still a very good chance that we might lose." The intern's eyes fell a bit. "That said, you can be very, very useful to me." The young man's eyes opened wide. "I need you to go to the Target Center, where they're holding the ballots for recount. I need you to inflitrate the recounting group and do whatever it takes to make sure that I get more ballots than Franken. Got it?" The intern nodded his head vociferously. "Don't worry about ID, we've already got someone working on a fake one for you. You just need to make sure you don't do anything stupid to get yourself caught, alright? Just make sure I beat that loser Coleman!

Meanwhile, on the east side of Minneapolis, in an oddly similar luxury suite.....

"What a joke this is, Mr. Franken!" an irritated intern griped. "You had this election won fair and square. What kind of jerk is this Coleman any-" The intern was cut off by an angry Al Franken.

"Look, kid, stop your whining! You wanna help me out or what?" The intern nodded his head with vigor. 'Ok, I need you to go to the Target Center, where they're gonna do the recount. I need you to do whatever it takes to make sure that I beat Norm Coleman. You got this?" The intern nodded once more. "Ok, look, I've got guys already working on a fake ID to get you in to the recount. Just don't do anything too stupid to get yourself caught. Alright? Just make sure I win, no matter what!"

Three days later....

Once more, the Camel Lord drug himself up from bed, plopping himself on his comfortable recliner, and flipped on the morning news. Right now, they were discussing the weather, raining again.... However, before the weather forecast was finished, the main news caster interrupted once more with BREAKING NEWS! "Something sinister involving the senate scandal!" the news man declared. "Two members of the recount crew were found dead in the Target Center, leaving many thinking that one or both of the Senatorial camps might be up to no good to secure their election." The Camel Lord spit out his coffee. "You gotta be kidding me!

Meanwhile, on the east and west sides of Minneapolis, two angry, not-yet Senators are also watching the same broadcast. The two men utter in unison, ":daisy: interns!"

Inside one of the Target Center offices:
A small group of volunteers looks visibly shakened as a tall, aged man stands up on a chair for a platform. "Ladies and gentleman! The recounting has to stop! We have killers amidst us, nobody got in or out last night! We have to banish whomever did this, so we can get back to our work."

"But who did it?" a woman asked.

"We'll have to decide that, as a group. We're here to serve Democracy, we must use Democracy to vanquish the killer amongst us! We each get one vote, and cast out whoever we think the killer is. Does every one agree?"

With two exeptions, the entire group offered an enthusiastic "YEAH!!"

Any ties in voting will await someone to break it. First vote to either person who is tied will result in lynch, regardless of any posts after it.

Night one

Navarro951 was troubled. Even though he was on the recount commitee, he lacked the ability to count. All this time, he had been flipping a coin, meaning that he had royally screwed the recount business.

"No matter", he finally said to himself, sitting in one of the many bland, sticky, chairs in the Target center. He had no political convictions, so the outcome would never matter with him. Satisfied with his justification, he flopped down to watch some of the more festive promotions that the two senators had planned.

The poor Democrats couldn't match up to the Republicans in sheer entertainment. As Navarro flipped between channels, he saw snippets of men riding Donkeys, like a scene out of Don Quijote. And on the ugliest one, was Al Franken, looking utterly disheartened at the debacle. And on the next channel, were the elephants.

Glorious, they were! Navarro was transfixed with their beauty. And as he sat there, he saw the majesty that was Norm Coleman.

https://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x246/greaterkhaan/normA.jpg

At his command, the 14 of them began trumpeting, completely enveloping Navarro in a sense of utter glee. Somehow, the old, mono sound system he was using had managed to project their harmonic waves all around Navarro. It was at this moment when he felt the unmistakeable feeling of drywall and plaster in his hair.

Turning around, he saw nothing other than a large hole in the wall, which he did not remember being there. He also did not remember having an elephant in the room with him when he came in. Putting two and two together, he deduced that it was the elephant that caused the gaping hole. Pleased with himself, Navarro continued to watch Norm Coleman's parade.

But something was odd. One of the elephants was missing. There were only 13 of them this time, and it then it began to dawn on him. Or rather, the elephant began to step on him. Navarro died wondering how they managed to fit those little hats on the elephants. The elephant died wondering why the organizer wanted to have explosives planted on him. The other committee members wondered how in the hell could Navarro have enough body mass to completely cover a room in guts.

Only one knew about the elephant....

Splitpersonality yawned as he continued to skim through the seemingly endless numbers of ballots, his weary mind numb from the sheer repetitiveness of the matter at hand. His head dipped slightly onto his chest for a second, before he realized he was about to fall asleep on the job. Snapping his head up, he decided to to the restroom and have a very, very long urination. When he opened the restroom door, a man in a mask leaped out from the restroom, clubbing him over the head with a cudgel, knocking him out.

Splitpersonality's next moment of conciousness began with him feeling even groggier than when he woke up. He tried to speak, but found himself gagged and bound, unable to move either. He could feel something being wrapped around him, however. It felt rather like.... ducktape with confetti? He tried to struggle a bit to get out of the bindings, only to have a long, dirty looking needle thrust into his neck. The plunger thrust in, and a man quitely ushered "night night", before Splitersonality lost conciousness again.

Finally awaking from his quite comfortable nap, Splitpersonality noticed that he was back in the main chamber where the ballots were held, though he was still bound on the floor. Even more disturbing than this was the fact that he could only see through two holes poked in the front of a cardboard box that had been shoved onto his head. It really was quite uncomfortable, the air was beginning to get hot in this box. Suddenly, a vibrant scream rang out.

"OOOOOOH MY GAWD!!!" a younger woman screamed. 'IT'S A PINATA!" Tratorix raised an eyebrow inside his cardboard container. He couldn't see any pinata....

"Oof, this is a heavy one!" A man's voice rang out as Splitpersonality felt himself being lifted up with force. "Must be A LOT of candy in this one!"

"Wait, what are we going to use for bats?" The woman asked. "This is a basketball stadium."

"Oh, let's just grab some brooms from the janitor's closet!" A third person's voice chimed in. "Come on guys, we deserve a small break from all this counting, don't we?"

"YEAH!" The group rang out in chorus. Splitpersonality felt himself thrusted up onto a hook hanging from the ceiling. He tried to squirm, but found his limbs wouldn't move.

The group finally came back, brooms in hand. Another young woman remarked, "Man, that has gotta be the ugliest elephant pinata ever! Like, who would even want an elephant pinata anyways? Oh well, I WAAAAAAANT CAAAAAAAAAANDYY!!!" With a ferocity befitting a jungle tiger, the woman led the charge as the entire comitte began its brutal broom bludgeoning of the defenseless "elephant". Only when the group realized that the pancreas was not, in fact, made of Pez and that blood was not, in fact, hawaiian punch, did they stop the senseless assault....

The ballot counting volunteers gathered around the table to discern who had committed last night's heinous crimes. Votes went out seemingly to every person, but no majority could seem to be decided, since every person was voting differently.

"Aaargh!" The elderly man screamed. "This is craziness! This is why we have political parties, so that the winners of elections don't have 15% of the vote! If this doesn't solve itself, we'll all have to play Russian Roulette with my ol' Colt .45!"

"Wait, I VOTE HIM!" a couple panicked voices rang out. After tallying the new votes, the group gathered that Beskar now had the most votes.

"Beskar," he elderly man declared. "You are banished from the Target Center, never to return!" As he brandished the equally elderly pistol at him. Beskar merely raised an eyebrow.

"I'm crushed...." he muttered sardonically as he left the arena once and for all.

General Hankerchief slowly walked through the Target Centre. There was a strange scent in the air, one of...... a distant memory. Wafting through the the rooms was a something so familiar, the he would be a fool not to realize what it was. It was blood and guts, since he was right next to the room where Navarro exploded. But rather, it wasn't the scent of Navarro himself. It was of a wild beast, although one could not say that Navarro himself wasn't wild.

It was the unmistakable stench of elephant guts. It all came flooding back to him. The Elephant wars. The beasts, with their tusks constantly goring the infantry. Crushing armour.... it was far too vivid. They took at least 20 tribesmen with spears to bring them down, as they were the only ones brave enough to go after them. And the monkeys too.........

He glanced at the hole in the wall. Elephant tracks lead out towards main street.

So there was an elephant in the centre......

__________________________________________________ ______________

Soon, he saw it. The beast was unaware. Packing tons of dynamite. And easy shot. If GeneralHankerchief had a gun, it would be. Instead, he has Navarro's small intestine and a whole lot of gumption. He would have to think hard.

He soon learned that he didn't need to. The elephant had spotted him, and immediately charged. Utterly surprised, he resigned himself to his fate. The next morning, the body was found.

The elephant had charged and missed. Its neural defibrillators had failed, according to some of the committee. Instead, he veered into a stack of ballots, giving himself papercuts all over his jugular. GH did not fare much better. He was shot in the groin, foot, sternum, thyroid, knee, ear, forearm, and pinky finger. And then his head. No one knew who the shooter was.

Meanwhile, outside the centre, outside of Minnesota, actually, there were strange reports. An elephant had managed to get to the top of a building with a gun, shoot it, and fall off afterwards, leaving a sizeable mess to clean-up. Even stranger, this had happened near the embattled Target Centre, where several suspicious incidents had taken place. Democrats lightheartedly took it as a sign that the Republicans were failing. The were silenced when authorities found a donkey underneath the body.

Pevergreen was reclining in the visitor's lounge of the Target center, enjoying their comparative level of comfort to the wooden chairs used in the ballot counting room. His eyelids slowly began to drift downwards as he felt his conciousness drifting to sleep. Unbeknownst to pever, someone was walking up behind him. As pever's mind began drifting to thoughts of donkeys and elephants, a thin, steel wire descended upon his exposed jugular. Pever's eyes shot open, but he could not scream, as no air could escape his enstrangled throat. The wire came further down, pressing pever's neck into the chair, until pever finally blacked out, for one final nap.

When the meager tally was finally counted, Iskander was found to have the most votes. With the announcement made, the rest of the group grabbed the still-bloody brooms that had been used in the bizarre and unfortunate pinata beating earlier, and chased Iskander from the Target Center.

ATPG's curiosity once more was getting the best of him. He figured he would never have such a chance to explore his favorite local sports complex. ATPG journeyed down the hall from the office. ATPG got to the stair case and stopped. He looked to his right. Elevator. Looked back left. Stairs. Elevator. Stairs. Elevator. Stairs. ELEVATOR! ATPG pushed the button to open the elevator. *DING*. With the door open, ATPG jumped with boyish enthusiasm into the elevator.

*CREAAAAAAACK!

ATPG's spidey sense went off a few seconds too late, his head peering downwards as the fake elevator floor crumbled from beneath him. The last ATPG saw was a person standing at the open elevator door above him, smirking, as he plunged to his doom.

A Very Super Market was growing increasingly bored with the ballot counting. Being stuffed in this comparatively tiny room with total strangers and going over mundane ballot after mundane ballot was beginning to grind on his nerves. Heaving a sigh, AVSM got up from his chair and left the room, to get a breath of fresh air, so to speak. As he strolled over to the drinking fountain, he noticed a bright red skittle on the floor.

"Oooh, a piece of candy!" he exclaimed. As he picked up the fruity, sugary, piece of heaven, he noticed a second skittle not three feet further away. "Ooh, a piece of candy!" After popping in the second candy into his mouth, he again noticed another skittle on the floor, again not even three feet away. "Ooh, a piece of candy!" And so the sugary circle of life continued. "Ooh, a piece of candy! Ooh, a piece of candy! Ooh, a piece of candy!" AVSM barely noticed that the line of skittles was leading him up the staircase, further and further up, all the way to the roof. Finally opening the door and stepping out into the fresh Minneapolisian air, AVSM again noticed more skittles. "Ooh, a piece of candy!" AVSM followed the line of skittles all the way to the edge of the roof. One last skittle was sitting there tantalizingly on the edge, almost precariously. "Ooh, a piece of candy!" As he reached for the last skittle, a man stepped out from behind a ventilator behind AVSM, and gave a strong, sturdy push to AVSM's back, tossing the poor, skittle infested man aaaaaaaaaaaaall the way down to the pavement below. The man looked down at the last skittle on the edge of the roof.

"Ah, a piece of candy..." he said to himself, as he tossed the fruity goodness into his mouth before departing back to the stairs.

Posted twice this round without voting. How is town supposed to win if we don't choose someone to lynch? It's also the behavior of overcautious mafiosi. Unless there is a tactic at work here, I can't see a townie doing this.

Its called learning from my mistakes; I didn't vote because, if I remember correctly, the last few times I voted for the town favourte, when tired I got accused of, and even lynched once for bandwagon-ing. See the org mini mafia for example where this is going on right now.

That would only make sense if Khaan uses a system of sorts where if, for example.

Mafia A targets Mafia B (10am)
Mafia B targets Townie C (12pm)

So because Mafia A killed Mafia B earlier than Mafia B kill Townie C, so Townie C doesn't die and instead Mafia B doesn't kill due to the "realistic" timing so called of who sent their pms first.

Well, unless Khaan can confirm this I wouldn't run up that alley.

I'm thinking more of Mafia A targets Townie C and Mafia B forgets to send in orders and is now using ATPG as the "hey look, a mafia must have died!"

Well, there isn't much discussion, so what am I suppose to do? Vote everyone randomly and get accused of throwing my vote around? That seems awfully... under the questionable motives region. Don't you think so eh mate?

Edit: Blindly following? No. The last statement in your post is of rather dubious nature as it is rather ambiguously put, as in like, the mafia could reduce to 1 kill and we wouldn't know.

FoS: Greyblades for trying to create even more WIFOM in relation to ATPG=Mafia

Of course your blindly following him, you havn't even made a vote this turn without him telling you to do it or voicing suspicion the post before.

What am I supposed to do? I try to play smarter for once, actually think about why I'm voting, and I get the entire active town on my back because of the dead guy says I'm acting unusualy which, by the way, was the intention.

Can't you read my last posts, they clearly state what I plan to do. Plain, and simple.

I'm irritated/overreacting because my attempts to get better at the game and not just follow the crowd has actually gotten me in worse straits than if I just went along with it.
*sigh* screw it I'm going to go back to coaxing the lurkers.
Unvote, Vote: Caius
He's been lurking for days and yet hasnt been WoG'd? Either khaan has not been paying attention or he's doing something out of thread.

I'm not the one following the crowd... that would be CDF.

I'm just following ATPG's target and with a different plausible reason.
Once I'm satisfied with the input (hopefully continued discussion), well, yeah.

Caius seems to be facing... activeness issues..

In Fillet Royale II which is in its final phases, down to 5 people, he hasn't even popped in to vote, and was easily bandwaggoned by the mafia.

In other mafias such as this, he is similarly inactive.

I don't know.

Askthepizzaguy

His mafia has been dragging on forever. I still don't know if anyone won his mafia.

He seriously can't be mafia in any of the games he is in if there are still kills. Otherwise he is going for the lame lurker mafia win, which... to be honest... is lame. It's been done a lot and all it really does is encourage town to lose the game more often by panic lynching of the lurkers on final rounds.

Round is ending in approximately slightly less than 4 hours.

I would advise looking for people who are active in the forums yet posting, though Caius claimed forgetting about the games when I accused him in an earlier round... He seems to have "forgotten" about the game again, gah!

Edit: Caius appears to not have posted anything in the .org since 11th of June.
I think this can at least temporarily clear him.

Following another stunningly quiet discussion, Tiberius was selected as the one most likely to be the killer. The few remaining ballot counters decided they were tired of simply chasing those found to be guilty out of the arena. Now, instead, they clubbed Tiberius over the head with multiple chairs before tossing his limp body over the arena stands, watching it tumble down the stairs all the way to the polished wooden floor.

No. As a matter of policy, I do not and will not allow players who have already died/been lynched to take over for other players roles in the same game. Cultured Drizzt fan was, like all else in the room, growing more and more numb as the days went on. Ballot counting can only be made to be so interesting. He sat in a stiff, wooden chair, his head slumped downward, as he "rested his eyes" for a moment's rest. Gradually, his conciousness began to ebb ever so slowly. Darkness began to overtake him. He vaguely felt a slight pressure on the back of his head....

*BAM!*

With comparatively little warning, his head was slammed into the desk in front of him, his skull screaming with pain. An arm roughly snaked its way around his forehead, holding his head backwards and his neck stiff. Anotherh arm roped around his head the other way, a grey-tinted switchblade in tow. The hand made a swift, forceful cut at CDf's jugular, spilling open a profuse amount of blood. CDf collapsed to the floor in a heap, splashing into a pool of his own blood....

Death is yonder
06-15-2009, 17:24
That's what I'm believing too, which is why I'm voting Greyblades.

His behavior at the moment reminds me of ATPG's Mini Mafia V where I and Beskar was the mafia and TheFlax was innocent, and I gave up accusing TheFlax who was probably the innocent townie and started building a case on Beskar instead, which in hindsight, just made me look more guilty. Basically, sounding like trying to make TheFlax lynch Beskar instead.

Which is why, I'm going to keep my vote on Greyblades. If we lose, then I will take the blame :shame:

Edit: It was post Iskander's lynch and ATPG's death that the mafia dropped to 1 kill.

After some reviewing, that phase was many days ago, far past before Atheotes experienced system difficulties, which would have merely put him out of commission of the previous day phase, and the previous night phase.

On the other hand, the lack of kills stretches back further beyond those phases which Atheotes is granted some leeway of not being present.

Therefore I would conclude that either ATPG or Iskandar is the dead mafia, probably Iskandar, and I feel I am justified in voting for Greyblades, for trying to get me to vote Atheotes when I was merely considering the possibilities.

Greyblades
06-15-2009, 17:38

With their number now at a third of their original count, the small, frightened group of ballot counters gathered once more to determine who was sabotaging their efforts. After another quiet, subdued discussion, the consensus was finally drawn- Greyblades. As the remaining three turned to the condemned man, he slowly backed away. A twitch began to overcome his right eyebrow and his breath began to quicken. The other three volunteers bumrushed towards Greyblades, who immediately turned on a heel to run away. Unfortunately for Greyblades, he had failed to account for the wall which stood one foot behind him. Greyblades slammed facefirst into the wall, stunning him. The volunteers quickly subdued him as he staggered to his feet. As two held him down, Greyblades began to rant maniacally.

"This is NOT the end, this is just the beginning! A new golden age for Minnesota will begin!" The volunteers raised their eyebrows quizically. The glory of Al Franken shall reign supreme over this great state!" Greyblades continued on. "There is no justification for this opposition! Mr. Franken will turn Minnesota into the grandest state in this glorious Union!"

"So," the elderly man queried. "You have been behind the killings? You have been responsible for the deaths of all these innocent people?"

"No," Greyblades admitted. "I haven't been responsible for all of them. Someone else was here too, probably from that scum Norm Coleman! Although I don't think he's been here for a while. But I do admit with pride that I did my best to advance the cause of our glorious leader, Al Franken!" The remaining ballot counters merely shook their head. The elderly man took out his colt .45, grabbed it by the barrel, and slammed the butt of the pistol on Greyblades' temple, knocking him out cold.

The Next Day:

Once more, a certain Minnesotan Camel Lord awoke in the early, Minnesotan morning. After pouring himself a cup of coffee, he plopped himself onto his recliner and flipped on the morning news. The weatherman was on once more, reporting that, once more, it would be raining. Halfway through his seven day forecast, however, BREAKING NEWS! popped in, with the camera cutting to the head newscaster.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I have breaking news regarding the long standing race for Minnesota's last Senate seat. Late last night, police arrested a young man by the name of Greyblades at the Target Center. He was working as an intern for the Al Franken camp. He is accused of the deaths of numerous volunteer ballot counters. Upon an investigation of the Target Center, police were able to ascertain that one of the dead include Norm Coleman intern A Very Super Market. They determined that Mr. Market was likely responsible for even more deaths." The Camel Lord's jaw dropped in front of him.

"With both camps now tainted by accusations of murder and attempting to circumvent the democratic process, Federal government has ordered that all votes for either camp be rendered null and void. However, we at channel 2 news have good news! The volunteer ballot counters submitted their final tally to the state, and we can now pronounce a winner, live here first!"

The Camel Lord raised an eyebrow. With the Democrats and Republicans out of the picture, who was going to win....?

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Minnesota's newest Senator, having the third largest percentage of the vote following Coleman and Franken, IS...."
