The more I mod EB, the more I get CTD...

I really have no idea, I started to lose stability, with my first modification. I could play nearly 4-5 hour without any CTD. I have made more than 6 modification that I had released 4 of them already.
What makes me go crazy is CTDs are errorless, and what is the funny thing is my CTDs chooses factions. Some have more tendency to CTD some are really stable.
So as a last trial, I quit activating generic script F1 thing for perfect spy. Even I closed toggle_fow.
And gave up using FD.

I believe you mean CTDs, seing that CTD means Crash To Desktop and the plural form would be Crashes To Desktop (shortened as CTDs, I assume). And I agree with you, messing around with the files tends to lead to such behaviour. I guess it steadily corrupts savegames or something. I have heavily modded my own game (BI, fixes applied, hording for several factions, swimming, shieldwall ability, shadowing faction made for Makedonia out of the Casse), but have yet to experience more than 1 CTD. And that assaulting a city, which IIRC is a "normal" RTW thing.

There are ways to avoid them and ensure a healthy savegame, I believe. Like waiting for several seconds after a battle ends, after the end of each turn, not saving multiple times in short time periods, and some other tricks.

When do your CTDs happen, Atraphoenix? As long as they are not after you finish a battle, they are fine with me.

1-When I pass 2 hours without restarting RTW, with autoresolved battles mostly on VH/M.
2-When I do not exit after 4 battle I fought myself.
3-Nomad factions, mostly sauromate(sarmatians) playing with them less stable.
4-Saba very unstable faction.
5-I think using cheating codes.
6-generic script (I do not want to blame it but I have EBBS script, FD, and generic script - perfect_spy)
7-After I had changed map.rwm file I experienced less stability.
8-I blitz with romans I vanquish Carthage, iberia, whole galia. I found it very stable.

my ram is 1024 DDR2 though I had no problem after reducing video settings and deactivating anti-alising.

I am playing lots of mods but I think scripted mods are less stable.
I have made more than 6 mods foe EB. Modded lots of things.
There are no error messages, I think my mods tires EB, and to play with 3 scripts, suicidal.:shame:

CTD's are just part of the risk of playing a modded game... I quicksave after every battle, but it is worth it to be able to use force diplomacy, and have modded values for elephant and artillery upkeep....

Sounds more like that annoying memory-leak issue RTW has. Tends to occasionally CTD the game due to "buffer overrun" or something similar presumably every few hours of continuous playing.

I say you need more RAM. I have 4 GB, and almost no CTDs although my game is fairly heavily modded by me, although in non-essential areas such as EDU, EDCT, desc_strat, and associated areas.

Yeah. Also, code errors tend to be easy to trace as thanks to the "-show_err" switch the game helpfully tells you where exactly the "syntax error" that caused the CTD is located.

Yeah, I have that turned on, and every single CTD I have is a result of my graphics driver. I already had a recurrent, seemingly fatal CTD, but that was fixed by me with a driver update.

$168 was the cheapest RAM compatible with my computer.

Where do you think I bought mine? I buy everything I need from the Internet, unless it is school supplies or something common like that. Mind that in most countries, the Internet purchasing option is not available due to shipping restrictions. I live in US currently, so I am fine.

a suggestion i only have 2gb of ram but i think ur modding it a tad 2 much as with my 2gb ram and a video card with 1gb vram with me modding unit construction turns to 0 editing faction money in strat map and insane movement points in character and have yet 2 see 1 ctd.

In fact, I have to buy a new PC if I want to play ETW.
unfortunately not yet... I am a quatro maniac so I should save more instead of smoking 2 packets of cigarettes every day :shame:

I got extra RAM for the sole purpose of playing EB and ETW faster because both are lag-fest 2009 on my computer.
