Hey has the Guild skin changed or is it just me? Pardon my ignorance, but how can I change it back? I don't see any option to.
Thanks

Since the Org was down and Tosa is repairing it then only basic stuff is available. Different skins and stuff like that are gone. I for example have lost all threads that I listed as Favourites.
Just give some time and everything will be same as before. :)

So, I'm not the only one who uses it! :clown:
Ohhh right....so that's what it is....I mean I could see no pictures no smileys..nothing....I thought my browser or internet speed had gone bad...
This is the default Vbulletin skin. IMHO it's much better than the nasty old brown thing or the tacky RTW one. It also looks a lot better without those hideous avatars. I never could get along with those. Allowing people to have whichever avatar they choose is a step towards individuality. Every other forum allows thise but the .org tries to enforce this uniformity.

Ugh I agree, ever since they allowed name changes, things went downhill.

Well there was that idiotic name changing fellow? What was his name again??? Then there was the cult of the pevers followed by the defaults. If you ask me all of this is probably a plot by one of the last two or it has something to do with camels. No doubt the fiends intend to replace all of the avatars with the same avatar.... think about it.

By the gods...its all becoming clear! The camels wish us to rule!
Come, multiple-named-fellow-camel-lover!
Onwards!

If the avatars need re-setting maybe we could have camels instead...?
I'd like to reserve this one

Ha! :) I was looking for an explanation why the forum is looking so different than the last time I was here. But here it is. :) I'll just be patient. :)

the forum was hacked, to make a long story short, and we are in the recovery phase.
Did you say hacked? :O
Wtf... That's a nasty surprise.
Do we know who did it, are we safe now, etc. Is there an information thread somewhere?

This isn't the first time this has happened, in fact this same kind of incident appears to have happened about three weeks ago. Although our downtime was only around a day or so. This time we were knocked out for three solid days and some change before Tosa got us back up and running.
Hooah is dead on, we're in the recovery phase. Any information pertaining to when we will get the site back up to full speed is limited right now. All we can suggest and ask for is patience.

Long time no see, Drisos. Welcome back!
Hi there fellow! ~:)
I've been absent for a few months, feeling more and more guilty everytime my cursor did not hit the 'The Guild' link in my favourites. I'm just destined to be here now and then. :P It's a great place.

Yes, seems a few of the skins are working properly. Some still need a bit of tinkering, however.
Again, many thanks for all the work, Tosa.

many thanks!
You know what is bad, out of all the priorities, putting the adverts that crashed the forum in the first place are one of the first ones to go up.

Hello Beskar,
Not really. There were other priorities, such as getting a working forum. All those priorities were completed first.
After that a few other tweaks were made. Tweaks that are not visible, but are semi-required.
After running advert free for a week, the banners were put back. Banners generate money and are simply required in the end. I'm not sure whether the adverts caused the problems.
You are very right though: work is far from done. This week also saw working days of 16 hours (ex 2-3 hours for commuting), so I will use part of the week-end for adding spice.
Hello Drisos, how are you doing?
Fully understood, but it surprised me in a laughing manner, you just got the forum up and the first thing (or one of the first) were the adverts, and the 3 weeks ago, it was apparently an advert crash.
I am glad to hear you actually get money from them, though, I am not sure if anyone actually clicks on them though.
Hello Beskar,
It seems to be from adverts/links that got slipped/smuggled in. I've seen whole forums being defaced by banners and links. At times, the banners here get something annoying with music, popups or the like (not supposed to happen, but ad companies try), I don't think it throws malicious ones in the pool though.
I can see it surprised you and you are right: it's one of (or the) first visible edits after adding some skins, avatars and smileys. ~:)

Tosa
Can't we donate to get the forum ad-free (and consequently safer?)
Is the amount required to run the site too unrealistic to be covered by some donators?
Hello rasoforos,
Ad-free forums get similar problems too. It's certainly true that some banners in cyberspace cause trouble, but we really try to avoid those.
The host requires ads, in return we get hosting and some fair support. It's not only the amount of money, but also that of time.
Talking about skins. Am I the only one who doesn't have a background image at the moment? my standard skin would be RTW. Also I just noticed the text being typed in reply boxes have become the standard notepad font?
Is it just because of somework being done or something? I tought it best to let you either way.
Edit: never mind. It's fixed already. Guess just some work was done.
