As most of you Hamachi users might know, there is a really annoying 16 user limit on Hamachi so we have to create multiple networks, etc. Its not a really good solution since people still forget to log out, log into multiple rooms, and can't play cross rooms.

So...

Long story short, I found an alternative to Hamachi called Tunngle. Its german in origin so there is a slight language block but its otherwise pretty good(IE 255 room limit). So I think we should try to start experimenting with using this program for the multiplayer.

Instructions and link are here:

I'm currently in:

strategy -> (next page) -> total war

but I think we can make our own networks if we want to after the beta. So join me there if anyone is interested in testing EB online.

do you have an idea on numbers at the moment? I would be interested if thats the way to go. I havent played online with eb yet.

What sort of numbers? The only advantage it offers is really just the 255 person limit.

I think that's a big advantage when you can't log into a Hamachi network cause people forget to leave the network manually.

If that works, let's go with that.

What do you mean if it works? The software works.

Yeah, but does it cause lag? Can everybody join? If we want to play the tournament through that....

It has a lower transferate then Hamachi but it ought to be fine. How about on Saturday, we all get online and keep it over so we can try to connect to each other.

Yeah that sounds nice. We should really get it to work, cause today we were unsuccessful.

I'd love to try it. I live in Western Europe, dunno where the rest of you lives, so perhaps we can pick a day and a time to try this.

Thanks, but we settles on Hamachi + IRC room. We can't get anything other than Hamachi to work.

Well if Tunngle's being a :furious3: then it can't can be helped. Perhaps in the future Tunngle is gonna work properly.

So Hamachi remains unchallenged.

That is correct guys. Hamachi. I wish more people would join EB IRC room so we could chat. Everytime I check, nobody is on.

I'd encourage people to explore other software. Wippien is the other I've heard about. Just because I can't get Tunngle to work doesn't mean that everyone can't. Plenty of people can.

Can somebody please try the newest version of Tunngle with me? I'll be at the room under Strategy >> Total War. The newest version comes installed in English. I hope it works this time (note, I have uninstalled Hamachi so there is no excuse for conflict, you should do the same if you will try it with me).

I think my Hamachi was ruining my connection. Im going to have to uninstall hamachi and reinstall tungle and then we'd give her another try.

That's what I was thinking Vasiliyi, but you must not only uninstall Hamachi, but make Tunngle first priority in the network adapter accessed priority list (Network Connections >> Advanced >> Advanced Settings >> Adapters and Bindings >> Connections: Place Tunngle in first place with arrows). We'll need MSN or other to talk while fixing this.

Yup. All the people who play games other than from the Total War series. (=

Yes, but unfortunately, it's also a serious matter. It is true that there is a Total War section in the Tunngle rooms browser, but the VPN software doesn't work with Rome: Total War (haven't tested with other Total War games; I don't have any). But that's fine, considering the success EB Online has had.

I tried to enter that room many times, but it gives some kind of error I can't properly understand.

Tunngle has been essentially drowned along with the other 3 or 4 VPN experiments people have done, including myself, Antisocialmunky, and others.
