I know EB 2 is in progress but my thoughts are that EB 1 is always gonna be huge its made a huge impact in the community and people love it. Recently i investigated and modded EB to work with the alexander engine, now this gives all kinds of advantages as most of us know, i.e better AI all round in battles and in campaign, night attacks, EB runs smoother and faster and it is like your playing vanilla RTW the speed is great when ending a turn. You also get 20 extra unit slots, im not sure if you get extra faction slots. But in any case im sure more units would go a nice addition to keep the EB community happy with a new version.
Just to add I dont think their wud be much work involved if you consider the size and how far the game has come, the only thing in the publics eye that lets the game down are things that alexander will improve, this would be in everybodies view with out a shadow of a doubt the best mod ever for RTW. (It already is in many peoples views, but theirs a lot who dont think so)
It doesnt even have to fully replace the EB already out if ppl cant afford £5 / $7 or are too lasy to get alex theirs still the option to dl the old EB?
What do u think?

unfortunately the EB team have decided EB 1.2 was the last release. EBer's will mod EB for years to come though.

wait wait wait, they said many times they will release a new version mostly for reported bugs.
but I am sure that just would be a bug fixing release. not a whole modified version :-(
On the other hand, they do not need to release a new version if the bugs can be fixed without need a full installer,
that is also true, but I met their saying on a new release....
No info on current trend BTW...

Well if their gonna release a new version why not do it properly and spend another few hours making it more worthwhile playin, it would also give the game more life and would bring the community to life whilst waiting for EB2

Or they could just work on EB 2 and bring that out earlier and better. rather than divide their efforts. perhaps if new units debut in EB2, unofficial modders or the EB team may take the extra 20 unit slots and add those new units in.

Their is already a mod that exists converting EB to alex as i mentioned earlier and that also has a big mod which has extra units EB could just use them, im pretty sure EB have lots more units that were never actually used in the game that can be spared.
All the work is done all they have to do is include it in EB 1.3

I tried really hard to get a group that did reconstructions of ancient greek music to let us use some of their music, and they were initially very interested in helping (even recording with a large group tracks just for us), but just flaked out and had other stuff going on and would never do anything. That was my personal goal for a big contribution to a later patch, and one that I hinted at in a few public posts, but it never came to fruition, no matter what I did to realize it. :embarassed: Never could get any tuvan groups or artists to reply either, which would have been great (esp. instrumental tracks or at least with minimal vocals) for the nomadic factions.
Well there are still bugfixes and some other minor content planned. There will probably also be some extra content for Saba to fill in the many blanks that it still has.

My opinion is that they should focus all their efforts on EB 2. Eb 1.2 is stable enough to play. Especially if you get all the fixes.

Don't worry there's barely work being put in a new patch at them moment. Most bugfixes are made it's just some other smaller things that might get in. The new content for the sabaeans if it will get in, would be stuff that needed to be done for EBII anyway.

A stronger Saba, sounds interesting.

Meh, I say, trash Saba and add Goidils! And a landbridge in Dover to make sure either the Casse or the Goidils have a room to expand.
Or, EB 1.3 could be based on ALEX, giving the team extra spaces to add their own EB units (as opposed to pilfering form other mods).
But that is not realistic. I just wish the EB team would quit remaking the original EB to death and move on to IBFD or Asia ton Barbaron setting. Or even Rise of Persia and Paeninsula Italica united in one map. Much more fun than redoing EB ad perpetuum. The only problem would be the historians, as some may have their specialisations. But in any case, the EB Team did a lot of research as well, which they could do again I suppose.

to change the period of EB means another at least 2 years to adapt it.
Be logical, mate, even they forward their base beginning time 40- 50 years later,
they have to create nearly a completely new mod.

Precisely. What is the point of remakes? Who in the bloody heck is going to play EB 3 after playing EB I and EB II for five or even more years?? May as well start a new mod than kill the EB with endless remakes. Not to mention, it is not like EB II takes a year to complete.

It's not a remake. We have the same start date and the same principles. Historical, depth and gameplay. But you can have a lot of different end results starting by this.
For starters there will be 30 factions, which makes for much changes on the map. They are all worked out again form scratch. The game will also be different on gameplay level and core mechanics. Also the whole unit list has been made for zero. And while there units that represent the same people/soldiers as in EB I. They might look quite different in certain cases. Some where removed, for the benefit of others and more were added,...
It will be a different game. Mere the region and timespan will be the same.
