I went looking for it but can't seem to find any info for Empires camera. I remember that for Med1 and 2 you could change a command line (at least i think it was a command line) to be able to zoom out even more and be able to move the camera a little outside of the battlemap.

Not really a big deal, as most of the time I am not retreating or am not in a position where I am restricted by the edge of the battlefield. However it would be nice just in case.

So, anyone got an answer for me?? :)

And thanks in advance.

well.............being as it is a completely new engine, and most of the code is still barely explored, i doubt that, if it exists, it will be found for a long time. especially considering it is completely useless and there is no in-game use for it.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in one of patches to Medieval, they disabled the command line that took limits the off the elevation of the camera due to complaints that it was an unfair cheat in multiplay battles. From that point on the camera zoom out limits were hardcoaded.

Actually, I would like to seem them raise the maximum elevation of the camera a bit to make large army placement a bit easier.

Cheers

It allows you to access the Developers Camera, and all forms of camera angles and shots. (Even inside buildings and ships.)
How To DO:

Find the file Labelled
Preferences.script
Located in:
For XP:--C:\Documents and Settings\<<USER NAME>>\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts\
For Vista:-- C:\Users\"youraccountname"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
Once in this file change this line:
default_camera_type 0; # default_battle_camera <card32>, default battle camera: 0-totalwar 1-rts 2-debug #
Change the 0 to a 2.
This will then unlock the developers Camera.
Save the File and Close.
There are no bugs, apart from the aforementioned.

It is great for screenshots, and even better for the “Follow units key” (default: delete)

Note: If you access the Main Video settings, and or In Game Control settings then it will reset and you will have to exit and reapply.

RECCOMENDATIONS:
When you Open Total war and play a skirmish, it will enter in developer’s camera. (will be a little disorientating at first, camera may throw you a long way away [would recommend double clicking on a unit card])

Sea is no longer the floor, you can see under and around ships, even ‘stick your head out a gun hole’ this is best with the ‘follow’ function because it will keep you moving with the ship (even if you are inside it)

@FO: id like them to at least move the elevation limit higher; right now i feel crammed in compared to previous games.
