Hi guys,

reading this thread with many smiles and sometimes also some headache, I wanted to save all the good work that has done here before the images vanquish.

I've collected all existing demotivators (up to 22.12.2009).

Note that this is to 100% not my work, all copyrights belongs to the creators!

Btw: If anyone does not want to have his included I'll get that out and update the file.

Julius Augustus
12-25-2009, 22:56
There are a lot of articles you can find on the web that mention greek homosexuality, and in specific, pederasty. It seems to have been a fairly common practice. Look it up, if you want to find out more.

Are you questioning the EB-team? You have cojones, man.

FYI, I have never been taking any classes on reason or argument. :book:

I question anyone when I believe they are incorrect. The EB Team were not in the pantheon last time I checked it, and I am not religious anyway. There are mistakes, or say rather undocumented or scantily documented, elements in EB.

There has to be by necessity or we could never have anything for the Germans/Swêbóz for example.

EB Team are not Gods, nor am I or any other professional historian. Not Mommsen, Brunt or Elton, we can all make mistakes, have faulty documentation or reasoning, or new evidence turns up that makes us re-asses our conclusions, it happens once every generation when new guys try to make a name for themselves with new theories- I did it with medieval Danish history. Same with EB, no-one are Gods, we are all mortals.

Ibrahim
12-26-2009, 01:23

That's possible. I also think it no coincidence that the joke resurfaced when France refused to participate in the invasion of Iraq. The French have this thing about militarism, but their performance in the last 130 years was unimpressive to say the least. But the joke is wrong about the cause. On many occasions the French army fought like demons. It was their leadership that let them down.

that part has been letting the rank and file of France down since 1714; and as bad as 1940 was, the leadership in the SYW was just....well (http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Administration_of_the_French_Army), here. (http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=French_%C3%89tat-Major_Organisation) Its just (http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=French_Army_Provisioning)one plain disaster after the other. mind you, those articles were written by a person who has a good opinion of France's ability to fight (i.e. your's truly)

in fact, th only times the leadership was good to the men was IIRC druing the period 1588-1714, 1745-1748, and 1792-1812.

Nitpicking: the Nazi diplomats tried to spin it as if they had decided to let the British get away, but in reality a miscommunication led Hitler to believe that his armoured divisions were in a very bad shape. That's why he called off the pursuit.

That is why we should stop joking about French army and turn our attention on Italians. :laugh4:

I get the impression that the Italians suffered from a similar problems as the French: bad high-level leadership. In his eagerness to prove that his army was the equal of the Germans, Mussolini forced it into ill-planned and and ill-prepared ventures.

Nitpicking: the Nazi diplomats tried to spin it as if they had decided to let the British get away, but in reality a miscommunication led Hitler to believe that his armoured divisions were in a very bad shape. That's why he called off the pursuit.

There are many a reason as to why AH did not eliminate the pocket, what remains is:

1. The Brits ran as fast as the French and were thus no better soldiers.
2. He did in fact hold his armies back from wiping out the pocket, for whatever reasons (and there were many, I can think of wanting peace with Britain and thinking that if he was nice they would be amenable (the fool), the mistaken belief that the Pz was exhausted and attrited, not wanting to commit them into a builtup zone against an enemy with nowhere to run and thus who had to fight, the mistaken belief that you could trust Göring when he assured you of something such as that he could wipe out the pocket); thus the water barrier saved the Brits' behinds.

So they should be more polite to the French, I am not certain who has come best off in their internal fights.

:furious3: Frenchies and Italians are no pansies! Just look what they went through in the WW1 trenches  Each society has its breaking point beyond which psychological and moral collapse ensue. The Incas, a highly organised and massive State with fierce and brave warriors collapsed when they saw their God-King die in the hands of the white invaders. Their life was immediately stripped of its meaning and they were conquered by 50 (!!!) men!!!

Every war has its psychological aspect and remains essentially a confrontation of morals. In our haste to talk strategies ,tactics , equipments and the such we neglect or oversee this factor of "Will". For the French especially WW1 was a shock (understandably so). Drained demographicaly and shaken by the death-toll and immense sacrifices they questioned the validity of war. But War remains a Megadeath and no society which refuses to acknoweledge the necessity of sacrifices can ever hope to win a military conflict.

And indeed the French or Italians were merely the first to fall victims of this process. Today the western powers have nukes, long range missiles, stealth bombers , aircraft carriers. Yet internally they are weak like never before. And we see the Americans losing in Vietnam, the Soviets losing in Afghanistan etc, etc, etc... it is interesting to note that they lost to "primitive" tribal or agricultural civilisations much like the urbanised Greeks lost to traditionalist Romans , or the advanced Romans lost to primitive barbarians... victory remains a matter of faith and inspiration.

It must be the minor Bartixian isles.
Only visible on clear nights.

P.S. wish i knew. Is this place somewhere in the indian ocean?

it appears to be. it is the bottom and right corner of the map, which, looking at the mini-map, is in fact the indian ocean/arabian peninsula or somewhere in that area

Yes, it's right there.

My guess is that the location it's roughly the Lakshadweep (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakshadweep). That or maybe it's just some land left from editing the vanilla RTW map.

Or maybe I shouldn't have noticed it and shouldn't be asking these questions... :-o

As I'm sure the EB team would tell you, CA decided to do things the way they did for commercial reasons (time/target market/resources etc). CA did make the game in such a way as it could be modded, and this shows that they weren't fools. I know I've bought at least 3 copies of RTW because of disks wearing out, and BI, and Alex (which admittedly means I'm no longer worried about my RTW disks), and so on. So CA get what they want and need as a business. And thanks to people making great mods that keep what would be an old game alive, we get great games. Be happy that CA did all the code and basic machinery for the modders to tweak.

True. But you might still think they could have put a little more effort on the original game. But I don't know. Maybe most people are happy with falsification of history, ugly color-coded arcade style factions, and gameplay simple enough for a five year old. :) Anyway, we're going offtopic here. :P

True, off topic! but might I have only one addition to make, is that 5 years ago, RTW was a really nice game, and though EB is another lecvel of historic and gaming level, i had many hours of fun on the vanilla also! we must not forget that it's from 2004, so it was still a pretty jump fpward for the RTS genre

Also, don't forget that at least CA seems to be attempting to make their games a bit more historically accurate as time goes on since RTW. It's pretty undeniable that RTW is the least accurate of the series and that ETW and NTW are much more historically accurate (although not perfect obviously).

Correction: Revolutionized the RTS genre. The concepts brought forth by the Total War series and its approach to warfare and military history video-gaming is admittedly revolutionary as never before (or since, AFAIK) has one seen such intricate gameplay with so many factors involved (both in campaign as well as during battle). A masterful feat that makes Rome: Total War deserving of its grand ratings and reviews.

Indeed revolutionary, there was a jump from Age of Empires style strategy (build buildings on the map, play with single units) and from the grouped unit games (Praetorians, LOTR Battle for Middle Earth), to a level of awesome RTS gaming like never seen before.

Previously this level of quality strategy and combat was only seen in tv shows such as TIme Commanders.
