I'm an old EB player who wants to get back into EB after being away from it for a year or so.

I recently got a new Windows XP PC on which I had never before installed RTW or EB. Today I installed RTW, patched it to 1.5, and made a copy of the install.

I then downloaded EB 1.1 and the EB 1.2 patch, along with the EB 1.2 permanent fixes.

I installed EB 1.1 into my main RTW 1.5 folder (not the copy). I then installed the EB 1.2 patch to the same folder, and unzipped & put the 1.2 fixes in that same folder's EB/Data folder.

When I tried to run EB 1.2 from the start menu folder, I got the following error message:

"Problem with Shortcut: The item 'eb -show_err' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

Nearest match based on size, date, and type: C:\WINDOWS\Temp\mcafee_PckVJTGdNQki2Qs

Do you want to fix this shortcut to point to this target or do you just want to delete it?"

I un-installed EB and tried again, same result.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I loved earlier versions of EB, was hoping to get back into it.

Thanks in advance.

After installing EB (1.1 and subsequently 1.2) check (or just create another one) your shortcuts like this:

Target: "P:\ath\to\your\installed\RTW.exe" -show_err -mod:eb
Start In: P:\ath\to\your\installed\

Trick is to replace "P:\ath\to\your\installed\" with the full location of your RTW.exe that you'll use to run EB off.

The installer creates a bugged shortcut, sorry about that. You can modify your current shortcut to look like what Tellos posted and it should work.
