So.. really need a latptop since I'm moving for Uni in 6 weeks.I have 1500 dls and the lap should be 15'4 or ideally less...

I'm considering this one the ASUS N81VP-C1 http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-n81vpc1-p-2557.html?wconfigure=yes

- 14.1" WXGA HD 16:9 "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy LED Screen (1366x768)
- -Intel® T9550 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt - ASUS
- ATI HD4650 1,024MB PCI-Express DDR3
- ~ 4,096MB DDR2 800 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory -
- - Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti 8X DVDRW Drive w/ Software
- - 320GB 7200RPM WD or Seagate (Serial-ATA II 3GB/s) - Default Hard Drive

That's for 1240 dls. Quite a bang for the buck in my opinion. The only thing I don't particularly like is that it uses ddr2 memory instead of ddr3.

What do you guys think?

I expect your battery life will be junk, but you will be able to run a lot of games on that thing.

Yep. Battery last only for about 2 hours and 20 minutes according to some internet reviews. Crap but meh...my current laptop only lasts for an hour and a half. GAH!

Anyways, a but came out. It seems that it's about to be discontinued by ASUS and it will be replaced by N81VP-D1. However, there are still no ETA nor exact specs. Some people believe that it will have slightly better spec, maybe a better battery or an improved video card. However nothing has been released.

That brings a problem. I need the laptop to arrive before June 17th (cause I'm leaving), so I think waiting for the new model is out of question. If I wanted the new model I would have to wait until December to have it.

Hmm, I'm not sure what specs you'd be waiting for. I don't think ATI or Nvidia have new laptop g-cards dropping anytime soon, and that Intel chip isn't going to be superseded by anything amazing this week. And a "better" battery? The problem ain't the battery, its the specs. No laptop with those specs is going to give you great unplugged time, unless it's one of those freaky-deaky new Apple ones with the flat batteries (http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=3580&p=1).
