We may all have our personnel opinions of his private life but let's remember him for his music.

Wow. Not like I'm the guys biggest fan or anything, but this has an odd unreal quality to it.

R.I.P I guess. May not like him, but I won't speak ill of the dead...

Edit: Quintus, the story says he was dead when he arrived and they were unable to resuscitate him.

Well he will certainly be remembered, he lead a rather odd life. Never really liked his music all that much TBH.

Seems sky news got it wrong, apparently he's in a coma. Even still he's probably not going to come out of it..

Now we'll never have a giant robotic MJ (http://new.music.yahoo.com/michael-jackson/news/michael-jackson-wants-vegas-robot--41620594) in Las Vegas with frickin' lasers for eyes. Sadness.

-edit-

For those who never witnessed it in all its glory, Captain Eo part 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AstW05bDiQU) and part 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2Zt-57Cg0U).

its Human Nature... I can't help it, I feel bad for the guy. He's off the wall, Falling in love with the lost children, black or white, He should have just stayed in the closet, and beat it, instead of getting himself involved with pretty young things. Being Just Good Friends was HIStory. He's a smooth criminal, and a dangerous tabloid junky. Whatever Happens, He's Gone to Soon, I'm Speechless, but I think Heaven Can Wait.

Leave me alone...:sweatdrop:

As a kid I remember watching the Jackson 5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVSYJXpD2_E&feature=related) shows, they even had a cartoon. He had an amazing voice even as a little kid, and his dance moves became legend as he grew up. Too bad his adult life became such a bizaare tragedy.

Breaking news all over now. The "King of Pop" is dead. His personal life was a mess, but he was a genius songwriter and performer in his own right. RIP.

I've never liked anything about him too much but nevertheless he was a childhood memory.

Totally unexpected.

He wasn't an old guy, either, he was only 50. Stateside we've got more info- apparently he died of cardiac arrest, and they're unsure if it was drug-related or not.

Too bad... his music may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but there's no denying he was one of the biggest celebrities in the world, and revolutionized pop music.

Same. But, this is for his death and all that, not the merits/lack thereof of his music.

Crazy guy, great dancer, have a good long sleep.

Not a big fan of his music but I will never deny that he was talented.

His career took off when I started elementary school, and he was huge again when I was at uni.

Wishing him well on his final journey.

I'm sure the stuff about his adult life is all a hoax, about some kids just trying to make some money.

But whatever... his music was great, and he will be remembered.

"If he's in heaven.... someone better warn Saint Peter to hide baby jesus!!!"

Made me chuckle...

BBC was pretty late to confirm the death.

There was a lot of shock factors to this I have to say, very sudden and unexpected. RIP Mr. Jackson.

I remember back in 1984, Michael played a 3 gig set at BC place in Vancouver (our biggest venue). To this day that concert tour stands as the most successful entertainment event in the history of western Canada! Over 100,000 people attened!

He was definitely an innovator + as a youth he was an astonishing tallent. My heart goes out to his family. R.I.P.

I was born after Thriller and thus its sorta strange to think about, how suddenly and unexpected this happened.

Whenever a big entertainer dies who has been huge literally my entire life, it's interesting to try to imagine what the modern state of music would be without them. Especially so in this case since a lot of the younger talents these days (my generation) all seem to name him as an influence. RIP.

Heh, I don't think anyone i knew who tried to do the moonwalk could ever do it right. (myself included) :laugh4:

Michael Jackson was…
a. “the King of Pop!”
b. [edit]
c. [edit]
d. all of the above.

Choose wisely.

[Let's wait until he's in the ground before we talk about his well-documented personal problems. That's the Org tradition. —Lemur]

It's quite easy though once you've figured the 'trick'. It can be learned in 5 minutes time really.

Eitherway. The guy was probably a bit of the knocker, but that's no surprise the way he grew up. However I don't think he was a bad person, however a very talented one instead. RIP.

Yes, I never liked his music either (I do not like any music, and I never listened to any of his music) but it is quite sad he died when only 50 years old. And now there are suspicions flying around, with his personal doctor disappearing... And we will never know what truly happened between him and those children... But, the major question now is: what is going to happen to those MJ jokes that were a staple of my school lunch conversations :skull::no::clown:??

I feel sorry for him. He was a great guy untill his fans (literally) drove him insane. RIP Jackson.

Maybe he just fell on his face? When you have such extensive works done on your nose that involve somebody shattering your nose bones with a hammer and then rebuilding them with much less material, it's pretty likely that you'll die from a punch on your nose or from just falling on it.

I don't mean it in a mean way, but I thought there is something strangely fitting to his sudden death.

A Michael Jackson needs to die with a bang, not slowly fade away. Even the way it was presented was perfect: 'LA Times reports Michael Jackson died. Not confirmed yet'. After which the world was kept in suspense for two hours.
It had actually never occurred to me that MJ was mortal. A man without a face, without a race, without a youth. Some celebs carry their fame around like a prestigious Vuitton handbag. Paris Hilton for example. For others it is a mask they put on, a public persona they act. Sometimes with tragically schizophrenic, alienated, or lonely results. Michael Jackson though always was Michael Jackson, the famous celebrity. There is no fa'cade you can peel off, no person behind the public persona. Larger than life.

I don't think the fans and fame drove him mad, or that he got whacko, tormented. Possibly he was the most disciplined of all famous artists, but I don't think so. He never ever dropped his guard. He was always in character. It all just was really him.

Poor Farrah Fawcet (what a looker btw. Bless those 70's). What a lousy timing.

I can't say I was a fan of him, when I started caring about music he had already peaked a long time ago. Still, a great talent who made some genuine classic songs.

A Michael Jackson needs to die with a bang, not slowly fade away.
For some reason this reminds me of my favorite insane writer, Yukio Mishima:

"What power, poetry, bliss! To be able to cut it short, just as the white radiance of the pinnacle comes into view... Endless physical beauty. That is the special prerogative of those who cut time short. Just before the pinnacle when time must be cut short is the pinnacle of physical beauty. Clear, bright beauty, in the knowledge that the radiant white pinnacle lies ahead."

There's no reason to not mourn when someone great is passed away, even if some of us dislike him. At least, he revolutionize the Pop music, and break the gap between races in the world. No matter how suspicious he act as a person, we must have prejudice of innocence, as long as that case still unsolved legally, and at least remember him as a person who write the epic song "Heal The World" to make it better place for everyone...

RIP

Phew, I'm not the only one. :sweatdrop:

Louis, as he often does, made a nice post that accurately summed things up. I wasn't a MJ fan but you don't have to be to appreciate just how big a legend he was, hopefully he will find more peace than he did in this life.
