I was stuck trying to get the Marian reforms in about 160BC, as only one of my FM's had the popularis trait, and he was going to die within a few turns (from memory he was about 65) and even though he had gotten every other magistracy that I'm aware of, he still didn't get the consul trait.

I did try using the give_trait cheat with the FM's name and the trait required, however nothing I tried for the trait name worked - Consul, Consularis, Ex-Consul, etc. etc. I even went through the relevant file looking for whether it might be referenced under a different name, but still no luck.

Does anyone have the exact wording that would need to be entered into the Romeshell to give the consul trait to a FM?

IIRC, "give_trait 'Qvintvs Romanvs' Consul1" or something.

Remember that internal names for the romanii aren't the same to the names shown on the game. So if your character is called "Biggvs Diccvs", he's "Biggvs Romanvs", and depending on the number of people called "Biggvs" in the campaign, he will be "BiggvsA", "BiggvsB" and so on.

The trait, IIRC, was either Consul or Consular, and level 1 for consul, and level 2 for ex consul.

The trait, IIRC, was either Consul or Consular, and level 1 for consul, and level 2 for ex consul. No, Consul and notConsul ("Consular") are actually mutual antitraits. Since each has only one level, the level number is not necessary.
