I found this rather strange thing recently and have not noticed it prior to 1.3 though I may be wrong:

I had a galleon that came out of several victorious autoresolves and fought a battle manually this time around. I notice at the start that onlz the left side has any guns working, right side all gone.

So I sail with my left side towards them and fire away. After a while, I need to turn and happen to face them with my right side. Out of nowhere, my right side bombards them heavily. I check and notice all my guns are now on the right side! Left side all gone!

So eventually they get over to my left again, this time with me hovering my mouse over my guns. Lo and behold, my guns are slowly moving from right to left.

While that's obviously a nice feature, I do wonder whether this is supposed to happen. Afterall, your guns are destroyed on one side and its probably not exactly easy nor quick to move some 20 cannons from one side of the board to another within minutes and have them ready to fire.

After the battle and entering the next, the guns remained on the left (even though I ended previous battle with guns on right in the end) and during the following battles, the guns would still be shifting about.

How do you find out how many guns each side has?

Hover with your mouse over the broadside button. You will see the amount of guns you have on that side and how much of them are loaded.

I have noticed this with the AI, for example a heavily damaged pirate army, it has said he may have less than half or even a third of his total gun capacity, yet I have seen them fire every cannon along a side of their ship, is this possibly a bug?

Musical cannons are prior to patch 1.3

You'll have some guns destroyed on one side and all throughout the battle, cannons mysterious get removed from 1 side and over to the other

edit: forgot to add that autoresolve makes this even funkier, such as a 48 gun ship that has 24 left somehow goes into battle with a number in between 24 or 48 but not 24 guns like the unitcard says it has

The unit cards are often wrong, first rate ships of the line have more guns than the unit card on the campaign map says IIRC and their range is 400, not 500 as the unit card on the campaign map says, generally the campaign map unit cards can't really be trusted, many units have a reload stat shown that is 5 points higher than their actual stat etc. For example wallooon guardsshow 60 reload while it shows 55 on the battlefield. Sometimes unit experience was also not factored in on the campaign map, overall this seems pretty silly considering they got it right on the battlefield.
Haven't really noticed the moving cannons yet.

Hmm, I have not really noticed this 'moving cannon' issue. If my ship has all cannons intact, I get half on one side, half on the other side. Tried to do various targeting tricks yesterday, but still just had half/half distribution (of cannons).

yes you won't notice it if all your cannons are intact, however if you have lost quite a few in a battle previous and enter a new one with that ship you may notice it
