Smoke permeates the air. Across the horizon, one can only see the chimneys that belch it out, and the factories that produce it. Perhaps one might see a hovel through the smothering ash, and after that, another, and another. And in that hovel, one could have a chance to see a peculiar creature, a capitlalist. Or a victim of it, whatever you want to call it.

And if you asked them (If they could hear you through the noise) where you were (If you, for some reason, wanted to know) they would tell you (If you could understand the incomprehensible gibberish that would inevitably belt out) that you are in Great Britain, the greatest empire in the world, the abolishers of slavery, and the rulers of the waves. And as you look at this sordid affair, these wretches of people, and above all, the soot, you wonder why you ever came here. And while you wonder this, the diabolical machinery continues churning, well into the night. And the worst of it hasn't even come.

Nearby, in a little town, with the bad luck of sitting directly on mountains of coal, a neat, precise man steps up to a podium. The rabble below, busy fighting, drinking, and somehow sleeping, ignore his presence entirely. They already know what is going on. Behind the podium, their new livelihood awaits, a dormant factory, not yet regurgitating ash, but close to it.

Of course, not all wish to have the factory. There are some who think of it as a menace, taking the jobs of hard-working peasants. These men are usually swamped by the sheer number of educated businessmen, eager to earn a profit, and the much more numerous uneducated serfs, too tired to protest after a life of hardship and desperate to earn some work. But only in this town are there men willing to murder there way into high office.

"There were men found murdered today", said a voice from the podium

No response but the tattered yells of hundreds of destitute drunkards.

"The bodies were in the factory. Consider it closed until we can find these killers"

At this, the decentralized commotion was directed at the podium. Feeling nothing but confusion and anger, the crowd attempted to smash their way through the pine podium, through the iron gates, and the steel walls. Failing miserably, they soon calmed down, hoping to catch a glimpse at the victims.

Deep in the crowd, a man snickers, and begins to walk off into the hills.

Rules and Game mechanics

- Everyone receives a role PM. Quoting them is allowed, but I used the same basic layout for all of them, so be careful who you trust. Screenies however, are not allowed.

-Both phases will be at least 24 hours long. I may lengthen them if something comes up. PMs must be in by precisely the time the deadline ends, so try and send them early.

-Votes must be in bold, and should look like the following.

You must unvote before you vote for someone else.

-2 days phases without activity will be met with a swift bout of cholera. Your death will be described in detail.

-I may change some of the details of the roles and game mechanics around, if I feel it is getting severely unbalanced. I will definitely announce them publicly.

-The factory is easily damaged, and will usually take a fair amount of abuse each night. It can take an unspecified amount of damage points before it just collapses, but I will give hints. Roles with the ability to repair it will remove a random number of damage points.

-There is a godfather role, and he will choose his henchmen before the rest of the PMs go out. Killing him does not take out the entire family, however.

-This game cannot run without 15 people, so I'm very desperate. I will give you a PM hug if you sign-up.

How complex do you expect this to be, Super? If it's on the scale of Dark Descent, then I definitely can't do it. Otherwise, put me down as an alternate. I generally can only log on 1-2 times a day, and with a baby due in 3 weeks I may suddenly disappear for a few days.
I'll also delay signups for my next mini-mafia to make sure that people commit to this before anything else.

The workers looked in awe at the catastrophic state of White eyes :D, whose body was mashed in-between the the pistons of several steam engines. Strewn on the floor were his entrails, and a good helping of blood.

"How exactly is this considered murder", said a voice from the crowd. "It happens all the time!"

An official quickly directed the crowd's attention on to a note tacked onto the remnants of White eyes' hand, which was conveniently sticking out from in between some levers.

"This man wos fond too bee gilty off tri ing to hort the facttory. He has ben delt with by mee."

"Sabotage!" Exclaimed the, now-incensed, horde. They began to stomp on his remains. "It seems that not only are we harbouring a murderer, but luddites as well" Announced the official. "Let us work our best to eradicate them from the populace, so that progress must be made"

Amidst the cheers, another man announced- well, slurred his objection to the aide. Beskar launched a drunken tirade on his activities last night, which mainly involved drinking, until the very last of it.

"I...... I was walkin' 'round, and.. uh.... I..... there was a guy... and he hads a knife on him.... so I took off into ...... that... there.... machinery... blurghhh"

The men began to decipher his message, before a sudden bout of coherence managed to produce a clear answer from him.

"So I was runnin' in between the stuff, and the guy behind slips on somethin', and wangs his head on a loom. I was gonna finish him, but right behind the guy, ther was all the bloods, and stuff, of White eyes, so I took off. *Burp"

I will post seriously, at first I had no pm from Host, so I just thought it was the host being funny with the drunk character I was assigned, then the host pm'd me saying he forgot to give me the result, and he basically said some one was trying to kill me with what was described as having "Evil Grin on his face" and I escaped by running through dangerous machinery and left the assaulter far behind.

In the story, it references this, with apparently the person banging his head on the loom, which allowed to escape.


In short: Who ever the Mafia are, they dislike me are trying to kill me off.

The sun began to set, and the town was nowhere near done with the inanity. The talks were dominated by insane hermits, dancing bumpkins, and incomprehensible toffs, and little progress was made. However, one man uttered a phrase he would soon regret.

The mashed up remains were tossed into the nearby stream, since it was gunked up anyways, and left to feed whatever animals that hadn't suffocated yet. As the others left, AtPG quickly jumped in and took a few nibbles, before promptly leaving the scene.

Most went to their drinking dens, one to their estate, and a few to the local plotting halls, where they began to discuss their plans for the night....

The night was not a peaceful one, no sir. There were screams, all around town, most of them from the streetwalkers, as Yaropolk stalked the night. Eyeing the ladies, he chuckled to himself, as if unaware that they knew perfectly well he was ogling them from afar. But his goal tonight wasn't to earn himself a slap to the face, he was on his way to keep an eye on the factory. And so, he parked himself down on the street, and sat there.

He saw many interesting, many indeed. What he didn't see was a masked figure parking himself behind Yaropolk, and driving a knife through his head.

Beskar yawned. His visit to the factory tired him out, and it was time for a rest. It was far too late for a drink, so he decided to just go back to the hovel and sleep. But stepping outside, he noticed a strange sight. A man in a bright red trenchcoat was lying on the ground. Investigating this peculiar man, Beskar noticed that his trenchcoat had melted and ran onto the ground, and up his face. Then realizing that the man had no face, he gasped at the grisly scene, and took off.

As he passed the factory, a tremendous explosion erupted from it, from it, knocking him onto the ground. He quickly got up, dodging the debris that was raining down upon him, and ran for his life. The fire was raging, the man was bleeding, and chunks of machinery were falling all around. Ducking into a corner to catch his breath, Beskar stood, mouth agape at the destruction wreathed, before a swarthy little man broke his skull with a rock. Picking him up with his grimy hands, the man tossed him into the flames, and took off

As morning came, the town murmured nervously at the state of the area. Two more of them were murdered, and the explosion had done some considerable damage. The mayor's aide once again gave his appraisal of the situation.

"The factory, although ravaged by this dastardly deed, has not felt incapacitating damage. A few good day's of work should fix it up, as soon as we catch whoever is doing this. Now cast your votes, and may god help us." :whip:

Well, it was just that it was like 28-29 hours ago, and I was in the opinion that phases are usually in multiples of 24 and possible extensions vary, but usually extend either 12hours or 24 hours or just a few hours in the event of tiebreak.

Iskander 3.1 was sad. Beskar was dead, and he played no part in it. Drowning his sorrows in drink, he loudly lamented the passing of his best friend to all that would listen. Or at least, not run faster than he could.

Of course, being completely drunk, he could not run very fast, or even move in the same direction as his victims, so he sought out the largest inanimate object in town. The factory was a good listener, as it could comprehend every incoherent thought that went through his lips before his brain. He was having a good time, but he wasn't sure if the factory could hear him, so he moved closer, and closer, until he somehow managed to open a door and go inside.

It was at this moment that he passed out. He woke up a bit later, with a wrench in his hand, and then passed out once more. This time, he didn't wake up. His throat had been slit, althought it was questionable if he would have made it through the night anyways.

Diana Abnoba was disheartened by the explosions last night. But the repairs had to be made by someone. The monstrous steel hulk was made even more ominous by the torn sides, and unwashed blood surrounding it.

Inside, broken parts of machinery lay about, just as in the town square. For a second, it seemed as if someone was moaning

It was just Iskander, wildly swinging a wrench, and not hitting anything but himself. Badly bruised, he eventually collapsed and went to sleep on the floor. As luck would have it Diana needed a wrench anyways, and gladly took it off of Iskander, who probably thought it was a Twinky™

A few moments later, Iskander was missing a large flap of skin on his neck. Had he not been murdering his liver, he might have alerted someone to it, nor would his liver have contracted someone to kill him first. Diana never noticed his death until the repairs were finished, at which point, dropping the wrench on the floor was a bad idea. Iskander's body would never be found, and Diana's had a beaten up wrench impacted in the brain.

The morning appraisal on the state of the factory and murders were routine now.

Around three-quarters of the town had already left for Birmingham proper by now, but he was too busy trying to be happy for himself.

Well, since I won't be around when it ends (if 24 hours), myaswell do some effort.


Iskander 3.1 was sad. Beskar was dead, and he played no part in it. Drowning his sorrows in drink, he loudly lamented the passing of his best friend to all that would listen. Or at least, not run faster than he could.

Of course, being completely drunk, he could not run very fast, or even move in the same direction as his victims, so he sought out the largest inanimate object in town. The factory was a good listener, as it could comprehend every incoherent thought that went through his lips before his brain. He was having a good time, but he wasn't sure if the factory could hear him, so he moved closer, and closer, until he somehow managed to open a door and go inside.

It was at this moment that he passed out. He woke up a bit later, with a wrench in his hand, and then passed out once more. This time, he didn't wake up. His throat had been slit, althought it was questionable if he would have made it through the night anyways.

Diana Abnoba was disheartened by the explosions last night. But the repairs had to be made by someone. The monstrous steel hulk was made even more ominous by the torn sides, and unwashed blood surrounding it.

Inside, broken parts of machinery lay about, just as in the town square. For a second, it seemed as if someone was moaning

It was just Iskander, wildly swinging a wrench, and not hitting anything but himself. Badly bruised, he eventually collapsed and went to sleep on the floor. As luck would have it Diana needed a wrench anyways, and gladly took it off of Iskander, who probably thought it was a Twinky™

A few moments later, Iskander was missing a large flap of skin on his neck. Had he not been murdering his liver, he might have alerted someone to it, nor would his liver have contracted someone to kill him first. Diana never noticed his death until the repairs were finished, at which point, dropping the wrench on the floor was a bad idea. Iskander's body would never be found, and Diana's had a beaten up wrench impacted in the brain.

We may have lost our mechanic and masons (?), but your sacrifice will not go unheeded, and the factory appears to be up and running again :2thumbsup:

AVSM it appears, has stopped factoring in descriptions of the killers in, so my previous attempt has been rendered null, furthermore, there are still 2 kills, is it possible Taka wasn't a mafia but like a neutral role? :inquisitive:

If atheotes is mafia, the three of us most likely are not.
Since I'm attempting to clear Blackadder of guilt, I'm likely not mafia. Mafia want more suspects, not less.
The fact that the two of you are giving it some effort and not trying to lynch me even though I'm an easy target tells me you're probably not mafia.
Blackadder is likely not mafia due to the fact he couldn't have done it.
Tratorix still being alive is interesting... if he's still alive tomorrow we will know his reveal was fake in spite of apparently catching a criminal. However I'm still leaning innocent on him.

It also seems to me that since this is a Godfather type game, Beefy and pevergreen would be obvious mafia partners. pever would choose beefy as a partner and vice versa. I don't detect any real attempt by pevergreen to help us win this game.

Either one sounds good to me. Atheotes for being a lurker, pevergreen for being a lurker. Atheotes has been mafia a lot lately and since this is a "choose your partner" game, he's higher risk for being lynched. Beefy is a good pick, as is pevergreen, because they have staying power.

Taka was clearly stated in the write ups to be a "master criminal", but the term also extends to other things, possibly he being an SK, it could be separated into two categories.

Either the supposed detective investigation consists of attaining information from his role pm or something, Eg: Whether he is a mafia/bad guy

Or the supposed detective investigation consists of attaining information of guiltiness based on whether the investigated person in question has killed before.

There are a couple likely configurations.

Tratorix could be mafia, but seriously... Taka seemed to definitely be mafia, and Trat tossing him under the bus, and then Taka verbally retaliating, is a very clever ploy if they are both mafia. It does make Tratorix appear innocent. But Trat's detective claim was never fully countered.

If Tratorix is not mafia, then pevergreen seems a likely suspect. He voted for an easy lurker candidate who seems obviously not mafia, has been lurking, and not even attempting to help the town at all. I am not a merciful guy, if I'm going to lose as town I am going to take with me those people who helped cause the failure, such as lurkers and non-serious players. That's just how I roll. Best I get my hands bloody unleashing the wrath of Pizzaguy.

Beefy has been playing it cool, but he always does, town or mafia. And since he's put effort into the game, if he comes up as mafia I will say job well done.

I could still have it all wrong and pevergreen and beefy might not be mafia. It could be tratorix and atheotes. Who the heck knows. But I'd rather go with something that's at least an attempt at solving the game than someone who seems patently innocent, Blackadder, or one of you guys. If Death is Yonder or Johnhughthom are mafia, you guys deserve to win because there's hardly any other town activity. Not much I could do about it anyway.

Taka's finger of suspicion pointed towards Tratorix makes little sense if they were both mafia. They had enough manpower to skate all the way through the game without tossing one of their own overboard. In this game, the Godfather being killed off doesn't stop the mafia, according to the rules. So supposing Tratorix is mafia, he would still have zero motive to toss Taka overboard.

That's my best guesses. I can't do a whole lot without being a detective or something, except make educated guesses.

to start, apologies for being inactive :shame: i couldn't spend much time during the weekend and lost track of the game... i did not want to post without reading through as there were role claims...

My understanding so far:

the rules say there is a god father and henchmen involved... 3 mafia? that would mean we definitely have at least one protector and one investigator.
we also know we have people who can repair the factory.(we can confirm Diana atleast)

As for my role, I am a hermit who lives in a cave and is, to put it nicely, "mentally interesting". If you wish to have an innocent townie confirm my own innocence, ask Beskar. He had an ability which proved me innocent. I also have a power role function which you are just going to have to trust me on, because I cannot reveal it.

I investigated Captain Blackadder. Seems an innocent townie to me. However, I'd just like to mention that my ability will not find the Godfather. I can't distinguish the Godfather from a normal townie, so the people I've "cleared" (CB, ATPG) are conclusively not mafia henchmen. Just thought I should clarify that in case of my death, however it comes.

As for me surviving, well it confuses me too. The mafia probably wants us to waste a lynch and was willing to risk another of their henchmen being found to get it. I'm assuming by taka's little attempt to throw suspicion on me that he was definitely mafia, no doubt about it. That's good, since it buys us more time before they would be able to outvote us. As for the mafia still having two kills, it's rather common in small games for the mafia to have a set amount of kills. Otherwise an early lynch in the towns favour would cripple them for the rest of the game.

I'll vote: pevergreen for now. I'd like to know why he hasn't been posting even though he's been active on the forums.

You quietly sneak into town hall, ducking one of the aides there, and start flipping through paperwork. You can't seem to find much for AtPG in there at all, until you look into the "locals" section. Within the 10 people you find in there, you quickly spot out AtPG's grotesque looks, and begin to check up on his history.

You don't find much, but he was from here, born and bred. He was arrested several times for lewdness, but nothing suspicious strikes you. You also notice that he has no registered home, and no job either. Clearly, he seems to a rather strange fellow.

Since the only options were either Atheotes or pevergreen when I got on, knowing how pever plays, I didn't think he was guilty. I don't really know Atheotes yet so I thought you would be a better choice.
