View Full Version : An annoying, repetitive, and random error

So, I'm chugging along as whatever nation on the campaign map when, suddenly, everything comes to a grinding halt.
The game literally slows down to less than one frame per second. It's not frozen, because I can still see animations happening...just very slowly.
This seems to happen randomly, with any nation, and always on the campaign map. Usually it clears up after a few minutes, although sometimes it's lasted more than five minutes (at which point I usually just do a reset, since you can't minimize ETW).
Any advise, my fellow representatives?

well it means that there is either something in the game slowing the game down, or something that has started running on your computer and is taking up all of your CPU's running time and slowing the game down to the point where its slow, this can happen, do you have any antivirus programs scanning things in the background or anything like that? I try to shut down as many programs as possible that I don't need running when playing ETW because its just so damn resource hungry

There are glitches in routines that just happen at times. There are areas of the map that heat up my computer. Some factions are worse on the hardware than others.
In my current Austrian campaign, Finland heats up my machine incredibly fast. Just hovering there on the map is enough to shoot up my temp to dangerous levels. With other factions it has been India or the Iberian peninsula. (or maybe it is the new patch)
Playing in Windows the saves are very slow and I even get white screens for a few seconds. The Russian AI turn usually does this too about mid way through.
I think mostly they are just leaks and glitches that have not been sorted out yet.

I have to say that I haven't experienced these glitches myself but that doesn't mean they don't exist, anyway good to check your computer first and if it isn't your pc then it probably is the game

i would say that if you have a fan near where you play, point it at the computer and on fullblast. it should do the trick.

I live in Arizona. I've had a window fan blowing on my computer since we moved here :P
(And it still gets my room about five degrees warmer than the rest of the house)

oh man, my room is always like, 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. i mean, ill like literally step into the hall, and ill be like, "wow, what is this wonderful temperature?" "uh, its 90" "i can literally feel the sweat freezing! oh this is heavenly!"
perhaps you should get a couple more fans?

Hey, man, I was in Arizona about a month ago, hoping to get some of that "hot weather"... It was raining cats and dogs every day...
Hmm...
