View Full Version : [Question about] The Gaza Campaign

Ave EB!
Is the Gaza Campaign an independent stand-alone campaign independent of the normal "World Campaign" (Like RTR VII: The Iberian Conflict)?
Thank you for all your work:)

I am so tired I looked at the title of this thread and thought it was going to be the actual official release and started freaking out.
In regards to your question, I believe the Gaza Campaign will be released as a stand alone campaign that serves the purpose of acting as a tutorial of all the new features that will be implemented in the main EBII game. I don't think it is known whether they will just release it when it is ready, or whether they will wait until a couple of months (maybe even a year) before EBII comes out so most people will be familiar with all the extra content and features which would most likely be completely alien to someone moving from vanilla RTW (or M2TW) to EBII.

Correct. The team has hinted that the Gaza campaign will be the first in a series of such stand-alone campaign working up to the release of EB2, so I doubt its release date will be influenced by the planned release date of the full mod.

Series? :inquisitive:
There are going to be multiple campaigns before EB2? Thought there would be only one. :2thumbsup:

And these are scripted with historical events and battles for every turn?
In the same style as The Trivium Projects RTW series about the late republic?

I'm not sure, I don't think so since they are tutorials of a game where you have to do everything yourself. :inquisitive:

When did they hint that? :dizzy2:

Maybe you were beeing sarcastic, but anyways:p
Okay we admit, there is no longer one large campaign map. We're going to numerous minor campaigns. One released after the other. This would allow for more detail and historical accuracy. The reason the team hasn't mentioned this yet, but I think you have the right to know. Is because due to the large expansion of the Romans in our time frame, we cannot have them as the faction they used to be. Instead we'll only have an early Cammilian campaign restricted to Italy instead. As you may already have guessed the second release will be based in North Africa.
:shocked3:
This is unprecedented in my mind.
Hmm...I agree it would allow for greater historical accuracy, and probably be far easier to make..but doesn't anyone else feel this is a tiny bit sad?
Oh well. A game designed to be historical needs to be historical as possible. And we can always continue on EBI if we want large scale maps. I was wondering how you were going to counter the horrible world conquering superpowers, like the Lusotannians in Greece and stuff like that.
I'm glad you did let us know, Moros. Will you let us know anymore on the extent of the mini campaigns? How mini will they be, and how restricted? Because I would not want to have the North Africa campaign where we cannot go past Sardinia if you know what I mean, or where the Ptolies' get cut off my the big black space beyond the Red Sea.
EDIT: OK, I learned my lesson...shut up
Years of following EB leads me to take Moros statement with a pinch of salt...maybe a mound...or mountain.:clown:

If EBII is truly split into seperate sections instead of one big map... How are we supposed to multiplayer..

Multiplayer? Who multiplays TW games anyways? First thing I heard of it.
For that there is Warcraft 3.

A mere six months of following EB has led me to the same thought.
Hmm... has the EB team ever told us why they decided to work with the Kingdoms expansion instead of vanilla MTWII?

I hope they realise how much of a work over these campaigns will get from us:). So fun.
It would also be hilarious if htey brought in voice talent to replace Marcus and Victoria in the original Greek. Hey we can all dream can't we?

I hope you're wrong, that would ruin EB! :dizzy2:
And I agree with others, we've seen enough of: "After the player starts he writes History", lets hope that remains the same! :2thumbsup:

Can't believe some people take Moros seriously. The saddest part is that he probably gives away real information once in a while, and nobody get it because we're like 'Oh well, that's Moros, he's making fun of us'.

Yeah, most of EB team feels the same...never know if the research he comes up with is actual research or something from Spirou.

Yeah funny how everyone tought the Arabian war roosters were a joke. Or how people actually believe Arabians used javelins now! Not to think everyone believes my Sabaic to be actual Sabaic. Or that there actually will be an elite unit with longswords and bows! Instead of some gibberish with a few tidbits from an online Aramaic dictionary. But then again let a 12 year old have some fun, hey?
Note: one of the above statements is true. This is not a lie.

I'm going for the elite unit one...or maybe the Sabaic isn't it a reconstruction your using?

Well actually this time /Bean\ was right.
The elite unit is not a lie, Sabaic is not really a reconstruction. In some extent you could call it a reconstruction. We actually know a whole lot of words in Sabaic. It just that we don't always know there exact pronunciation as they didn't write down all their vowels. And of course there are blanks in grammar and words,... But it's not really a recostruction like pregermanic or something as we have books describing the actual grammar and dictionaries both based on Sabaic texts from 2000 or more years ago (of which there are thousands, not all that long and not all translated or from the same period though).

P.S.F., M.P.C.A., A.I., etc.
I'm afraid I don't know what the first two are (and I assume A.I. is Artificial Intelligence). Can anyone elaborate? I only have MTWII vanilla, not Kingdoms.
P.S.F = Permenant Stone Forts
No idea about the second one.

Well, before this thread diverts to something else, let me say something serious: in our recent Twitter messages we have confirmed that a good portion of the GC is made, although we're now testing it. It's not possible to guess right now when it will be over but I think it's already good news to know that we're on top of that.

Does this mean we can probably control more than 20 units?

You can sort off control reinforcements in Kingdoms. You can do that through setting the AI controlled reinforcement in a certain stance (offensive, defensive, skirmishing).

Its good enough, hopefully the EB install will come with a pre-modified options file that turns off the unit limit check so your armies don't get delayed.

But even with unlimited men on the field on, sometimes your reinforcements still comes in considerably long time....

Don't really see why it should its takes about 10 seconds to do it yourself.
