I couldnt find any other topic on this so:

Its out on consoles and PC now.

Mine is in the mail.

Anyone else have it/getting it and care to face my (not very skillful) wrath? I'm pretty good on a keyboard, bad on a stick. One of my friends who I beat 80% of the time on a keyboard is off to national championships this weekend.

Hadouken!

It was out on consoles a good while ago, February I think. Got my ass kicked too often online, haven't played in ages. Still a good game, normally I hate fighting games and only got this out of Streetfighter 2 SNES nostalgia, but I enjoyed it a lot. My lack of reflexes show through on it though, I only ever really play EB and rpgs so no lightning fast reactions from me.

I was feeling the same and was sorely tempted to buy SF4, but then i found my old SNES in storage and after a little tinkering/cleaning I got the thing up and running. I satisfied my nostalgia the old fashioned way.

A friend has his SNES tucked away somewhere and it gets wheeled out periodically for a Super Tennis session, still the best two player game ever in my view.

I can't deal with SF2 or any of its varients. It has to be at least SF3: 3rd strike.

I'll give you a hoot when I've got the game john, we can throw weak punches and be slow together. :laugh4:

And it will have nothing at all to do with mounting camels...

I thought about getting the game but then decided to just stick with my copy of the Anniversary edition that came out ages ago for the Xbox. Something I didn't like about SF IV was the complete lack of SF III characters, I know that game wasn't popular, but still it would of been cool to see somebody from that game into 3D.

What I am going to buy though is Marvel vs. Capcom II which is comming out at the end of the month via Xbox Live and the Playstation network.

In a related story i just picked up SF4 for PC. gamertag is in my sig so hit me up if you wanna do some games, I gotta warn you though i'm not that great at this game. The timing for the Ultra combos completely eludes me, sometimes i hit it like a pro and other times i just fidget around as if I'm having a psychotic episode.

Oh. And C.Viper is a cheap :daisy:. :furious3:

Haha.

My friend got back yesterday, hit somewhere between 15th and 30th in the nation. 4 wins and two losses.

You gotta think of it like a joystick. I have my xbox controller hooked up via USB, its a lot easier to get the rotation on a stick than a keypad, but I can't hit it on a stick, but its easy as pie on a xbox controller.

Yes i've got a similar set up. Can't decide whether or not I like the D-pad or the left A-stick for pulling off U-Combos. The D-pad seems the easiest in terms of hitting the sequences, but it feels so awkward to hold the controller while you use it. I've taken to doing the time trials to increase my reflexes and it's actually helped a bit. I can pull off some sweet combos in a jam but I still can't fire off a UC on demand. These hands were meant for first person shooters, not fighters! :laugh4:

Silence!

It's not the sequence that is hard it's just the timing, sometimes you'll do the sequence but your timing is off (either too fast or too slow) so you'll do an EX instead. But it's okay, since I unlocked Akuma and his Ultra is unthinkably easy. :2thumbsup:

I know the feeling, I've managed to pull off some nice combos though, focus EX dash cancel to h. shoryuken, cancel to shinryuken.

Of course he cuts out the one time I won, the very next match... which was my only win. :laugh4:

Hey, i make no secret of the fact that I am not that great at this game. I'm okay, but when it comes to canceling moves into other moves and then canceling into other moves I am at a complete loss. I'd make some kinda "get you next time" remark, but you'd probably beat me again. :help:

Well, give me a charge character and I'll lose.

Or play Blanka. I've had about 15 games against blanka, won none.

I've won my fair share against Blanka but each have been hard fought. His Ultra is absolutely unblockable if you are up in his face, but if you're further away you can easily avoid it by jumping backwards and then jumping forwards.

Don't rush him when he's down as 90% of Blanka players get up eletrocutin' so instead knock him down and back off. After he finishes electrifying the air get ready for his spin (which he will do). Honestly fighting Blanka is about patience from my experience, if you rush in he's got the tools to obliterate you.

My favourite character of every SF was always that Indian Yoga guy. Shaolin or something.

pevergreen
08-02-2009, 00:44
Dhalsim?

He says Yoga nearly every time he attacks now. Yoga Fire! Yoga Flame! Yoga Catasphorea! or however you spell it. >_>

Jolt
08-02-2009, 18:22
Yeah, its Dalshim. I was quite good with him when I was a little kid. Like, in SF 2 for Amiga Commodore 500. :D

With 'em arms and legs flying around the arena, noone managed to hit me, other than occasionally.

I figured out after dieing a few times, you jump over and hit his arms.

At least in the SF's I played, my opponents jumping usually meant them getting a foot on their face, falling down and getting two hands on their buttocks before they hit the ground.

Curiously enough, I never had learned how to do Yoga Teleport well.

I think that in SF 4 its f (or b), d, df (or db) then PPP.
